Oilers interested in hiring Mike Babcock

McDavid might stay...Or he might go in 2 years.

The Oilers might win a Cup while he's there...Or they may not.

That being said, this is one of the worst run franchises in the NHL. If they didn't suck so bad for so long and luck into a top 5 player of all time and another hall of famer 3rd overall, they'd still be a lottery team. Almost every move they've made outside of the no-brainer picks in McDavid and Draisaitl has hindered their chances of winning - Not helped.

If they waste McDavid and he leaves Katz should be forced to sell.

The issue is they got a top 10 player all time and then ever since they seem to cater to him. The organization is ran to insulate McDavid in all the wrong ways. You should never try to build a management group around people your star player are familiar with.

Edmonton with Florida or Vegas level ownership and management? Might be similar to the recent Chicago dynasty

So is McDiver's refusal to stop disgracing the sport on and off the ice. Now Edmonton needs to bring in Babcock to try to fix the problem.

I am going to Victoria in a couple weeks. Gotta remember to bring water that flows EAST of the Rockies with me.

Better tell the HHoF ;)

Babcock and/or the Oilers must be really desperate to make this work to go through the media circus coming to Edmonton this summer

Sounds like only the tip of the iceberg was released last time and that sank him, when all the stories come out there's no way he's going to come out looking better

The Canuck fan in me wants this to happen
Flames fan here and I want him to go into that locker room and scare any younger players away lmao.

Also I have to say the most pathetic response has been from Oilers media like Stauffer trying to defend this. It is so hilarious to watch.

I still can't believe people are hung up about Modano's games played. Dude was injured half the year. Babcock doesn't have to play anyone for their feelings. He's not the first coach to sit a guy that maybe should have played. The fact he also blasted Mike Commodore is hilarious. He's not a good defenseman. Babcock doesn't owe him anything, either.

Because he didn’t treat them the same way. When everything came out, the photo sharing experience for the veterans and the young guys was not the same. With veteran players it was “show me a couple pictures of your wedding, your family” with younger players it was “hand over your private phone and let’s project it in my office.” These are not the same.

Do you actually know this? And what do you know it from? Are you sure it's not just different players interpreting the same thing differently? "Here let's put family photos up on the screen" could lead to both interpretations.

I’m not going to go sift through articles and podcasts from 2023 to get you direct quotes. You got me I guess.
