Hyman and Kane are not underpaid, they are both paid what market value was for them at the time of signing. That is still what they wound be worth if they hit UFA, they just play with two very good players
lol. Jeezus. Why can't you throw any scrub with elite players then? I know it has been forever since you seen semi elite players like the Sedins, but wow

I’m not interested in the usual excuses.
You mean you don't like looking at the truth. Fair game

RNH is going to outscore Elias and make half of the money. Yeah, they are not underpaid. LOL

I’m fine with the truth. Just not interested in the same old lame excuses every fan base rolls out when they lose to a better and deeper team.
It would be refreshing to see fans just acknowledge the other team was better as many Oiler fans have done. But you do you.

How does a team with way more depth get outchanced and go down every game?

What were the save % between the goalies? Sometimes a team finds a nut. That's what Vegas did. They are good too

Kane tried going to free agency and circled back to Edmonton
Hyman is in the perfect situation to help him succeed, that doesn’t mean his value suddenly raises

Both good players but they are not Semi-elite players like you seem to think

I wonder what could possibly influence Nuge, Hyman and Kane’s point totals that Elias doesn’t have the luxury of having

All I hear is excuses lol.

It's all about point production VS dollars. It's not that hard.

Elias is wasting away and hasn't done anything yet. How much does he elevate everybody.

I am talking about the regular season. What happened in the playoffs? COL won 4 games by a goal. Oilers were up on Vegas every game. Coach did what I said he does. He combined them. Man, Crosby is a legend, but fanboys like you do everything you can to discredit others lol.

??

Oilers out chanced Vegas and were up every game. Look at the goaltending. Are you serious? At least research.

Tell me which team outchanced the other and were up every single game? This isn't CGY that just chucks up shots without high danger chances or elite players.

Colorado won 4 games by a goal? Oilers fans really should stop deluding themselves with fiction.

The Avs were up 7-4 going into the 3rd with a cyclops in goal. They ended up winning 8-6.

The Avs backup to Cyclops shut the Oilers out in game 2. Not a 1 goal game.

Game 3 was a tight game in Edmonton with a tough break off a hit post and a goal the other way by Compher coming out of the penalty box.

Game 4 was obviously an OT win., so it was a one goal game.

If you’re going to complain about empty net goals, you’re talking about McDrai being on an end of game power play that failed.

Also, consider that this series had the Avs winning games played in every conceivable way. They amassed a big lead then put their foot down on a comeback in game 1.

They dominated game 2 in a shutout.

The eked out a tight game in game 3.

In game 4, Edmonton twice had two goal leads. But unlike game 1 when the shoe was on the other foot, they couldn’t deny the Avs.

What are you talking about? Their D is decent and goaltending isn’t the worst. Skinner certainly had a bad playoffs, but he was a runner up for the Calder trophy… meaning his first season.

Give the tired and cringy narrative a break
Sounds like a cup winner to me! Decent D and goaltending not the worst! Built for the cup!

I think the better team won. I was talking about people saying we had no depth.....You also had goalies who went crazy

The Edmonton fans remember both Colorado sweep and the Vegas series different that most of the general hockey population

Edmonton actually knows what the playoffs feel like. How long has it been? Not counting the welfare spot in Covid. 10 Years?

So in summary pretty much everything the poster said was incorrect.
Thanks for setting the record straight.

The same “deep” Vegas team that missed the playoffs the previous year with essentially the same roster?

as others have pointed out. Their goaltending and defence is not good. Ekholm is their best D. Nurse is a tire fire on most nights. Bouchard is one dimensional. Ceci and Kukuk are guys on most teams would be bottom 5/6. Oilers are only going to win games 7-6 again and in the playoffs when teams play shutdown D? they will be in trouble again

Nurse in 9th in even strength points amongst D men the last 5 years.

21st in +/- over that same 5 year period.

This while playing some of the most difficult minutes and hardest quality of competition.

But yeah, “tire fire” most nights.

You’re welcome. If 4 games are played and they unfold in different ways but none work out in your favor, it’s a form of domination. It’s not brut force domination but more like a cat playing with a mouse domination.

Having said that, the Oilers over the past two years are worthy of respect. They’ve been knocking at the door for a while. Their fans have a right to be optimistic.
