I know our goaltending has been bad, but it's discussed enough. We need another goalie, at least good enough to push Skinner but ideally to supplant him.
I am glad there is much more chatter lately about our complete inability to actually SCORE GOALS, because I've seen it as a problem all season. We pretty consistently out-chance opponents but our finish is brutal. Outside of Draisaitl absolutely nobody is finishing, it's getting ridiculous at this point. What is going on? We are getting NOTHING from bottom 6, or any wingers at all really, besides the odd Perry goal (although those are usually assisted by Draisaitl now that I think about it).
Nuge is a ghost, Hyman doesn't know where the net is, Arvidsson can't stay on his feet, Podz hasn't fired a shot with his head up all season, Brown/Henrique/Janmark generate about 1 chance every 5 games...and on and on. I'm astounded that we have the record we do with so many bloody passengers up front and substandard goaltending. Draisaitl (who has been absolutely heroic all year long) and Perry are about the only forwards deserving of a passing grade this season. Maybe McDavid at times.
All this being said, I'm still optimistic this team has a chance because when they're going they hang onto the puck and dominate possession and don't give up much - that, coupled with the few gamebreakers we have who can manufacture goals from nothing, can work but it's not looking pretty the last couple of weeks.
