I was referencing the graphic the broadcast showed of the last 7 games being .890.

Not some cherry picked bullshit that picks 7 of the last 12. What types of nonsense is that graphic you posted.
Well your 890 is wrong. He is 890 overall dude. Again that is what you pock to whine about? A goal on a two on one giveaway at the offensive blueline and oir offense produces nothing and what you choose to whine about is that one goal?

And in this bizzaro reality where the Oilers actually scored some bloody goals people wear hats on their feet and hamburgers eat people.

The Oilers took two periods to actually try and score and by that time Vegas was already settled in. During the game folks were calling the shutout about halfway through the second. Like I said, Vegas was never in danger of losing this game. Too much perimeter play that opposing teams will happily "get dominated by".

Is Adin Hill in net? Then Vegas is probably not in danger of losing to the Oilers, lol.

It's the personnel. They play too fancy for their own good. If they just started playing more straight line, the fancy plays would open themselves up. Yet, they continue to try and force it.

That sounds like something that’s coachable.

Though I do agree the mix isn’t ideal, exacerbated with a guy like Hyman out

Truth be told, they make it easy on him because this team just plays perimeter hockey when its against VGK making it easy for them to play defense and Hill not having to make tough saves. Look at how badly he had to desperately make a save once the Oilers realize firing a bomb from the point and getting a RNH rebound almost resulted in a goal.

They were doing fine against Broissoit, until that point actually I'd say the Oilers had the edge in probably winning that series. Hill completely changed the series entirely.

Islands in the stream.
The main issue is he shouldn't be in a bottom 6 spot over Top 6 Connor fricken Brown. Skinner has his warts, but this team kept whining about needing top 6 scoring NHL wingers, and they literally have one but won't utilize him properly. Do they need to go back to the Yamamotos, the Puljujarvis, the Athanasious of the worlds to realize how f***ing slow they are? That's my annoyance.
Well, you know that I would try Skinner instead of f***ing Connor Brown. I would try almost anybody instead of that clown. But even a guy like Janmark is deserving more, and better toi, and he has been all season, and not just a game here or there. Coaches go with players that are bringing it, or should. Skinner elevated tonight, finally, he needs to be noticeable every shift and maybe this is teaching him how to have a work ethic and that he has to bring it here.

I'd rather this game occur now than in the spring.

Not really. Most purist coaches are stubborn on player commitment. So what Jeff Skinner played well tonight in game 24. He got a fair amount of minutes and chances and was nullified on every one. Kapanen is actually stronger on pucks and maybe even better at playing with sublime talent, and Kapanen has only been here 5 games and has had about as many good games as Skinner has. J Skinner has never had a coach anywhere that trusted him completely. Skinner is also what -10?
I’m all for sending a message when the time is right but we desperately need goals. Our goals for st this point in the season is not acceptable and it’s holding us back in the standings. You signed Jeff Skinner for one reason because the one thing he does consistently well at this level is score goals. You don’t sign skinner to forecheck or kill penalties he’s here for his one dimension and it’s a dimension that we desperately need right now.

Skinner doesn't go to the dirty areas, doesn't forecheck well, doesn't skate well and quite frankly thought he was here for the ride instead of trying to drive the bus once in a while. Hes a deer caught looking at a headlight and just can't recover. He is what he is.
He gets into net front areas…

I don't think Knob coaches the offense much all at. He just rides the McDavid/Draisaitl gravy train.

Vegas intercept alot of passes, I don't think adin Hill had to mover laterally once this game. Not to mention when they even get a shot off its blocked.

Not concerned, Oilers continue to run every team out of the rink. Once they're firing on all cylinders they're going to be better than last year's team, and significantly. Hyman and Arvidsson back makes a big difference, Skinner will move back up the lineup too and get it going. I think they kept him with Henrique and Janmark because they were legitimately good tonight, but when healthy move him up into the top six and put Nuge with Kane and someone else.

Skinner is recovering in net, has looked good for 5 straight. Tough break tonight but Oilers will win a ton of games if he keeps playing this way.
I do agree. There's definitely a trickle down effect with this many guys out and the team is controlling just about every game and just hasn't had the same type of finish they normally do. I think once Hyman, Arvidsson and Kane are back in the line up we should see the scoring take off more consistently. The depth players have been playing well lately and the return of those 3 players should just bump a few guys down who are playing well, but playing too high in the line up.

The way I see it this team is defending well, they're a puck possession monster, their PK seems to be picking back up where it left off in the playoffs, and they're doing this without 3 of their top 6 wingers, all of which bring a hard working feistiness element that you want in a game like tonight. I'd still like them to add another D and goalie to push Skinner, but Kulak and Nurse elevating their game has made their D look a lot better than last year imo, and if their PP can get going like it should be capable of this team has sky high potential.

I'm enjoying watching this team evolve throughout the season so far and I think that's only going to continue as they get healthier and as they start slotting guys into the right places.

Actually my .890 over the last 7 is correct. It’s the 7 before tonight. I guess you like to call out the Sportsnet crew as giving out false stats.

Y’all realize that if we had scored 1 goal and won it in OT, y’all would be saying Skinner had a solid game.

And his performance doesn’t change in that scenario. Only that we scored more than NO GOALS.

It makes sense too. Especially as just a thing to get his game going and get him feeling good. And once he’s rolling you can rethink the lines again.

Still annoys me Knoblauch didn't play Skinner Drai Arvidsson for the trio to gain chemistry and be familiar with each other until the last shit of the preseason.
They were doing fine against Broissoit, until that point actually I'd say the Oilers had the edge in probably winning that series. Hill completely changed the series entirely.
We don't just do well against Hill. It's a sad fact and why I'd want to avoid VGK in a best of 7.

I love Janny as much as the next fan, but the guy's a bottom 6 player and it should stay that way. It'd be like when they played Janmark over Holloway in a top 6 role. Dumb as shit. There's no good reasons why a guy who has scored as much as Skinner has every year to be allocated to a bottom 6 checking role with Janmark and Henrique. Doesn't do anything to help him or the team offensively, and this team needs that offensive juice.

They had Todd "I'd rather be fired than go away from the 1-3-1" Mclellan and Dave 'gotta get smitty goin 9 games in a row' Tippet. There's absolutely no way in my mind that it's a coach thing. The way that every coach starts differently, and then eventually succumbs to McDrai is one clue. The other is the way that players rebound after leaving this team. Good before, underperform here, good after. Hyman and Ekholm being the only real exceptions that come to mind.

Helps when our team plays perimeter hockey 101 and don't go for the greasy goal. Gets puck deep, crash the net, blah blah blah hockey player typical comments but wasn't shown tonight by the team zzzzz

But we don't desperately need goals on December 3rd.

Not the end of the world on a night like this, just saying. If Skinner continues to work he'll get his looks but he won't be getting them free of charge here. I respect that actually and it will force him to be a better player. Meanwhile every forward on this team not named McD or Drai should be looking at the example of Janmark. What a 200ft game that guy is bringing. he's our third best forward. That shouldn't be happening.

IMO we played a great game and we got enough quality looks that we should of been able to score, but we are playing multiple guys in positions above their head and they aren't as proficient at finishing as our 3 top 6 wingers who are injured.

Also I'm going to say everyone jumping on Stu is an idiot, you're fully entitled to be upset at his season and his general play being piss poor, but his last 3 starts his save percentage has been 0.941, 0.964, and 0.938 tonight which is stellar. I know this boards nature and picking out a player to be the whipping boy when anything goes wrong you crack the whip deserved or not, but come on he's on a mini hot steak and he's trying to pull his season out of the ditch, there is zero sense to dogpiling him based on tonight's game.

Yeah, they've been doing this way too much this season and I think it's part of the reason our offense has taken a step back. Like if you're up by a few goals by all means play on the perimeter but when you need a goal it's not going to get you one.

We know this is a team that will look to make a picasso every time in the offensive zone, teams are just scouting them more this year and looking to take away pet plays.

Knob is not making any adjustments, other than throwing McDavid and Draisaitl back together when all else fails.

He's simply not doing a good job of coaching the offensive side of the ice this year. Other teams coaches are making adjustments and are doing more homework when preparing to play us, Knob's got f*** all in response.

Production is a huge concern right now. That’s my main worry and what we need to see turn around fast. The Oilers have always been a team that can score, we don’t have that identity, good f***in luck making noise in the playoffs.
