Oilers could not finish tonight and they did not utilize the middle of the ice. A top 4 defender who can make a great outlet pass, like Bouchard, would've been able to help a lot in that aspect and it could've helped a lot in creating rush chances.

The team could use a bit more speed as well. As a plus, I thought the Henrique line was good.

Hopefully Stecher is okay
I’ve said for a while now our biggest need is a speedy top 6 winger.

Now all this could change when we add Hyman, Arvidsson, Kane.

We haven’t seen this team playing well at full strength yet

You really get your feelings hurt about skinner. Is he your cousin or something? I have never seen somebody defend such a mediocre goalie so bad.
I don't care....I laugh when people blame him every time a goal is scored
he isn't the main concern IMO...this team gets "goalied" far too often and have been shutout 4 times already this year...it's game 25

Hill is also just a better goalie (like many others) than Skinner. Team Canada absolutely made the correct call.

Is what it is. They have a clear advantage in net and it will be a problem if we face them in a playoff series. He's a difference maker against us.
Of course Hill is a better goalie, he’s won a cup and makes twice as much as Skinner does

Good thing Knob has invested f*** all in trying to get Jeff Skinner going. Not like we need the goals or anything.
J Skinner on top line you thinking? I kinda don’t mind them letting him create on his own. He gets shots off more and probably makes bad decisions. On the top line, I rather him not waste McDs possession with his try hard shots.

Yeah, expecting Skinner to make a semi tough save is too much to ask.

Maybe he should just spend all summer sliding side to side, so it doesnt take him 30 minutes to move from post to post.

Expecting Skinner to make a semi tough save isn't too much to ask. Expecting Skinner to make every save is too much to ask. He let in one goal tonight and people are trying to blame the entire loss on him. We literally got shut out.

The Oilers didn't bother to try until the third period. They get no credit for getting shutout yet again.

If Vegas wanted to they would've destroyed us, but why use a cannon against a rabbit when a pistol will do.
I don't disagree with the first point, but I honestly think VGK know precisely how to dismantle this team. They don't try to dominate or go for the knockout, they let the Oilers push possession, but keep it to the outside. They bide time to strike on the counter when a d-man f***s up or a forward makes a dumb no-look touch pass.

Cassidy realizes that the Oilers are their own worst enemies, and that if they can just clog the middle and keep the Oilers to the boards, that the Oilers are happy to just cycle and take wide angled shots. Eventually someone will f*** up and then they strike.

If they won that game i would say they are legit. This is a game that shows me who they are, still unable to get past the hump.

Maybe acquire some winners in the trade deadline and not these losers that want McDrai to lead them to a cup.
Welp - game 26? Of the season and we are done!

And yet other teams seem to have zero trouble scoring on him. Why is it only us?

I'm pretty sure he .930-ed the Panthers and the Stars en route to a Cup and was good in the playoffs again even though the rest of Vegas didn't show up.

He's a guy that gets up for big games it seems like, especially for McDavid and Co.

He's just a better goalie than what we have currently. Is what it is. He's starting for Team Canada while Skinner isn't going to be on the team it looks like for a reason.

Its why We've never won the division too. Its hard to win a cup having the 2nd best goaltender through all 4 rounds to add insult to injury. McDrais careers are going to shxxx as long as we don't find anyone better than Skinner. It is what it is.

mediocre...play give up Grade AAA chances

the offense should be more concerning...how many times have we been "goalied" this year? at some point, its on the supposed "best offense in the NHL"
The best part of this is that you act like you know what you're talking about, but you can't even take 5 seconds to check that they're analytically one of the best defensive teams in the league.

Your buddy sucks.

Islands in the stream.
Vegas has the Oilers figured out. Keep them to the outside and let Nurse take as many muffins as he wants. That was classic shutdown defense and the Oilers could do nothing about it.
You gotta be kidding me with this shit. Vegas were terrified all night of our relentless attack and losing pucks all over. it was a putrid game by the KNights and the only thing they figured out is how to pay off the officials so theres no PP's all game and just be able to hold and interfere all night. The game you watched was half rugby. Vegas were putrid in this game. panicking for the entire 3rd period. From the Vegas POV what portion of the game, any, did they actually control?

Draisaitl was basically jumped on that faceoff at the end of the game and had his helmet ripped off. No call.

Liked the effort tonite…oilers deserved better
I missed that. But that’s what you get with prison rules hockey.

This league is a joke.

I was texting with my friend who plays goalie on my beer league hockey team (and played goalie his entire childhood). He isn't a Skinner apologist at all but he mentioned that you can't really blame a goaltender when he's already reacted to the pass on a 2 on 1 and the puck takes a fluke bounce back to the shooter. Your footwork and your timing is immediately screwed up.
Your beer league goalie friend sucks. That was a god awful read.

At least he wants to shoots the puck. I'd say he has an eye for scoring more than Brown does in a top 6 role. We traded away the mediocre Yamamotos, the Puljujarvis, etcs wingers of the world and yet a guy who has scored 30+ multiple seasons can't be played with either McDavid or Draisaitl for some reason is so f***ing dumb to witness. Jeff Skinner may be one-dimensional, but at least he can score. If anything, seeing him work his butt off and trying to do good on the backchecks but not getting rewarded with anything is just infuriating to see.

Yeah, your ability to watch and analyze hockey is laughable.

They give up some of the fewest chances in the league, yet their goalie stinks up the joint in 80% of his starts.

Skinner could shoot the puck into his own net and you'd be blaming the defense.
