Well I decided to celebrate opening day with riding the Covid train.

Great first period. String team play and Demko there when needed.

Also what the hell is Friedman wearing?

There was one or two clumsy moments but I dont see Hog standing out in a bad way after that period. Hes going to the right places, getting open, taking up space in tight, its not his fault we lack a dynamic powerplay built around generating shooting and passing lanes
Oddly enough he led the team in CF that period.

8 for, 2 against.

Should be somewhat expected that his line does that well with Miller taking matchups against McDavid where possible and the Oilers targeting Lazar’s line elsewhere.

Hughes has some questionable hockey IQ at times. He frequently hesitates to pass over to a wide-open EP on the powerplay... Only to then fire a pass straight through Petey's skates a split second later.

For whatever reason he can’t set up Petterson for one-timers how he likes them. It’s sorta comical ar this point.

o me it's a choice and not a lack of hockey IQ. At times he tries to score with his muffin shot and looks off petey

I see the same thing, as well, it's so frustrating. He obviously knows Petey is there and he has enough IQ and vision to know when Petey's open but he refuses to pass at the right times and when he does it's never on target. Perhaps it's a little on Petey, too, for not adjusting enough on shots but god damn Quinn... the man has a laser beam, put in his wheelhouse and put it there often.

If I'm the coaches I get these guys to work on their passing and one-timers everyday for a long time until they get it right. It's gone on way too long now lol.

I don’t really have a problem with Hog. His tenacity is exactly what we need, even if he can’t finish

I don't know what I've been streaming until now, but somehow this is the first game I've watched with the intrusive gambling ads. Holy shit. It's like I'm watching The Gambling Network's special feature on NHL hockey.

Oils fans losing their shit over the reffing. Apparently Kozari hates them (according to their board) so with any luck theirs some truth to that and we maintain our PP advantage this game.

Oil on the PP is pretty scary........
