I think he just needs to learn to do less without the puck. He's always zooming around, seemingly chasing an open spot that never really opens up for him. He needs to slow down and be a bit less "noticeable" in the offensive zone while trying to get open. It's how you distract defenders from paying attention to you, and get open shots away. Guys like Stamkos, Brett Hull, and Neal have made excellent careers out of this ability.

I read the first couple of sentences and immediately thought of Brett Hull. Glad you mentioned him.

Yakupov needs less energy and more thought. But, he hasn't even played 10 games in the NHL yet. I have total faith. You can't have his skillset and not succeed.
