How many wins in a row is that against Calgary now, including preseason, last regular season and preseason, etc. Must be at least 7 or 8 games now.

Everyone to CP and swallow those delicious tears! ;)

He's a human cheat code.

That aside, the Oilers systemmically dominated that game and Calgary could get nothing going. It was the best overall game that Oilers have played against the Flames over the last two years and it LOOKED like an elite team, not just an explosive one jumping on a another teams weak points.

Could think of no better way to start the season.

That was maybe the most complete performance and best effort I have seen from a McLellan coached Oilers team.
No complaints from me.

A few thoughts.

-3Rd line not flashy, kinda slow, but effective. JJ, Strome, and Cag.
-Nuge was good but still offensively not there. The line much better with Kassian.
-Yama experiment so far not great.
-Talbot and top line great.
-Benning one bad moment, a swack of good to great. Very impressive.
-Russell, typically a fan but in a perfect game he somehow looked pretty bad.
-Larsson Klefbom awesome.
-Kharia not very good. Hopefully just first game nerves.
-Nurse and Gyrba solid if a few minor hicups.
-Fourth line good.

Overall despite it being the McDavid show I felt it was a very impressive team win. Calgary outclassed by every line. Not just McDavid.

hope to see more Yamamoto next game, if only just pp time. I hope the drake is okay for next game, but maybe we should put in pacman

thought khaira played well positionally but didn't take the body or the puck to the net. I would think it is just confidence at this level

Nice that we don't have to listen to nonstop talk about Matthews 3 point night, thanks to Mr. MVP. That second goal was filthy. I need to go take a shower.

Spoke too soon. Post game SN talks McDavid for 3 minutes mentions Matthews twice in that and then goes into analysis of the Leafs game.

McDavid will (deservedly!) grab the headlines, but that was a damn fine defensive performance by the whole team. Gaudreau and Monahan got nothing tonight.

Don't know what Calgary was doing by keeping the top lines going head to head. They were invisible.

I think McClellan wanted Yama to see how to be successful as a smaller player like Gaudreau. Unfortunately this game was not it. Ghostreau anyone?

Comparing rosters here:

Gaudreau = McDavid
Monahan > Draisaitl
Versteeg < Lucic (but Versteeg is a proven winner where Lucic is a proven loser)
Bennett > Nugent-Hopkins
Brouwer > Jokinen
Tkachuk > Yamamoto
Backlund > Strome
Frolik > Maroon
Ferland > Caggiula
Stajan > Letestu
Hathaway > Khaira
Glass = Kassian
Giordano > Klefbom
Brodie > Larsson
Hamilton > Benning
Hamonic > Russell
Stone > Nurse
Bartkowski = Gryba
Smith > Talbot
Gulutzan > McChoken

We have no excuse to lose this one.
I'm thinking a few of those > need to be >>>
