Post-Game Talk: Oil flooding the infirmary

Also, why are we mad at J-Skins usage? He played 17+ mins last night, he got his regular shifts. If anything he showed strongly that he belongs in the top-6.

As not using him in ot, I mean Walman and Nurse are much better skaters. It bit them in the ass, but I can understand the logic.

Plus in OT it's just a crap shoot. I do think Skinner should have played though. Sometimes logic is good but there can be too much of it too. The simple answer is that Skinner is on and so why not roll with him?

I don't think anyone has really mentioned what an awesome game Podz had yesterday. He's definitely not a top 6 guy, but he really has been shining in the bottom 6 and PK. He's being used effectively and we see the results!

I like his compete level. Would definitely have him on a 4th line as the offense isn’t there with him

Woah woah woah, let’s not throw the baby out with the bath water here, he has a point.

The last 5 years this place has become IMMENSELY toxic and especially so in the last year. Look at the the thread page numbers. PGTs from losses are typically have 3 or 4 times the amount of posts than PGTs from wins. And there’s a massive amount of users (again most have accounts that were created < 5 years ago) who ONLY appear when we lose. You think that’s a healthy community?

And that’s not even the most unacceptable part. How many times have you seen people post on PGTs or GDTs where they say something along the lines of “I hope the Oilers lose because of X”? I’ve seen probably 3 or 4 in the last week alone. If I was a moderator here that would be an automatic ban from HFOil. We are Oilers fans. If you aren’t cheering for the team you can f*** all the way off. Criticsm is fine. But to say you want the team to lose because they chose to start the goalie you don’t like is not acceptable.

I remember how miserable it was when we missed the playoffs in 2018 and 2019. We dreamt of a time where we are at the top of the league and a contender to win the cup. Now we’re there and somehow this place is factors of 10 more miserable than it was when we sucked. Like we literally have active firing personnel threads when we are fighting for first in the division. Do you know how disconnected from reality you have to be to think that’s even a reasonable point of view?

But I guess HFOil is a good representation of how society has deteriorated since the pandemic. Nobody is interested in positivity or success. They only seek to tear things down. To bring others down to their level because they’re miserable. And yes I can absolutely leave if I “get too worked up” but there’s good people here too with good insights and great conversation. How is it fair that I should leave this community over this infestation of f***ing idiots?

Anyways, rant over.

Good post.

Also during the pandemic everyone suddenly became a medical expert over nite.
Then they gave up their medical practices to become political experts in world affairs.
Once politics became boring, everybody seems to have shifted gears to self proclaimed analytics experts, who have double majors in goalie coaching.

Jeff Skinner's usage has really been getting to me and even know that he's getting the time it drives me nuts.

For years we try find top 6 forwards for Connor and Leon. Bring in Skinner who's been a consistent goal scorer the past few years, but don't give him a legit shot to play with those guys.

At what point do Connor and Leon stop having a say in who they want to play with and be forced to try the guys that the GM is identified as potential fits?

Not saying Skinner is going to be the answer, but apparently he's been on of our better 5 on 5 goal scorers this calendar year.
Well when the president and GM have to tell the HC how run his lines, that tells you everything about the coach.

I didn’t say anyone has to leave. I just don’t understand letting random posters on a hockey website get to you. It’s the internet… people are borderline cavemen most places.

Im a pretty positive guy and I think Oilers fans online are too negative in general but there’s no reason for that to get you worked up.

I can't disagree, i would have used him too, though I think that line up of Arvidsson - Walman - Nurse should have just ragged the puck a lot more, because Winnipeg's only good players were out, eat their time is the best defense without McDrai imo.

Skinner has like 15 goals even though the coach is using him like absolute dog shit. He was clearly on a heater last night and knob puts out Arvidsson and 2 D…Skinner would have been burning rubber trying to get the Hattie.

Good on Oilers for gutting out a point! That was really good to see them come together as a team with no Drai and no McDavid (just for the 3rd). The refs were very one sided it and it was clear who they wanted to win. The Perry penalty you can blatantly see Ehlers dive, who is a well known diver. Jets got a gift of a 5 on 3 and big props to the PK the last few games, as well as last night. Skinner's rebound, on the first goal, was bad. The 3rd goal he just looks lost trying to find the puck, along with the D. Skinner also is scary coming out of the net to play the puck. Then he gets pulled for concussion protocol, which was suspicious as well. I do hope Picard starts tomorrow night and a speedy recovery for Drai and McDavid.

Management now has a shield to hide behind when the team loses to the Kings in round 1.
Pump the breaks.

This is an organization being thorough in its approach and also being transparent.

These two guys going to an imaging clinic for a procedure in Edmonton would leak out about 2 minutes after they show up, so they are just doing the right thing by communicating this. Let’s see what happens next.

Hell no. The big brains will get this one on them too as far as I'm concerned, because McDavid and Draisaitl have been forced to carry this team basically on their own year after year with no help. If they are injured, it was honestly overdue. Oilers management makes the Enron guys look like smart people.

I'd hardly call that a shield lol. No team in the NHL is winning a round missing their top two players.

If these guys are out for the playoffs, then we just hope that the Oil put in a good showing and play some exciting hockey for 7 games.

If they're actually out then absolutely, but what's actually going to happen is they'll play, be the two best players on the ice, and then the loss will be pinned on nebulous 'injuries that were being played through.'

Meanwhile the team sv% will be .870
