Sudbury mortgaging the future with this roster would be one of the biggest head scratchers I've ever seen
I can see Oshawa being a possible destination for Gibson.

I would love to get another Brady smithI can see Oshawa being a possible destination for Gibson.
Sounds good to me!I can see Oshawa being a possible destination for Gibson.
He needs to have a huge first half of the season and be on Team Canada if you're going to get a 2008 born 1st rounder back for him. Full years of Rehkopf, Bertucci and Barlow aren't even netting a 2008 born 1st. Half a year of Gibson will? Not the best year to be a seller so farI would love to get another Brady smith
08 1st rounders cannot be traded until January. So it was impossible to get an 08 1st rounder for full years of Rehkopf, Bertucci or Barlow.Full years of Rehkopf, Bertucci and Barlow aren't even netting a 2008 born 1st. Half a year of Gibson will? Not the best year to be a seller so far

Anything can happen come the deadline but of the likely good teams:I think we will see some 1st rounders traded at the deadline but more likley for package players like OS did last year acquiring McCue and Smith or Sarnia and NB with the Leblanc’s and Vilmanis.
If you see Ottawa move Pinelli at the deadline, I wouldn’t be surprised if Foster or Barlas were moved with him in a package deal. Teams will look to fill more than one hole on those deals.
It has been a different year in regard to trades. Many big names have been traded early in the season and another may be added to that list as Quentin Musty may be on the trade block as he has asked for trade. There is still some big names that could be traded such as Anthony Romani, Luca Pinelli, Cooper Foster and Matthew Andonovski. The issue that is emerging is that many contending teams do not have the draft picks to make a lot of trades. Oshawa only has two, 2nds and two, 3rds all in 2027 and 2028; Erie also only has two, 2nds and two, 3rds but three of those who are in 2025 and 2026; Barrie has the same amount of 2nds and 3rds as Erie and Oshawa does but does have 2nd and 3rd in 2025 and a 3rd in 2026. Flint and London has a few more. Only Brampton and Kingston have a lot of excess draft picks. I think we may see more young players traded than usual in moves at the trade deadline.
I think that Barlow deal with Bedkowski and Delisle will be the blueprint for many of the deals. Either less picks or only one player but still the same sort of packaging.

I think they will get a 17 year old player and a couple of 2nds and 3rds and maybe a couple of 4ths at best. The question is where is the fit for him amongst the contenders and who do they have to offer in return?Owen Sound got extremely fortunate that Oshawa made an irrational panic buy.
Other teams aren’t going to make that kind of a foolishly misguided overpay like Oshawa did for Barlow. So unfortunately for Sudbury, they’re not getting anything close to that for Musty, who is almost an identical player to Barlow - - both put up nice point totals, Barlow the better goal scorer and Musty the better playmaker, but neither would be considered a great skater and neither has had any success in the playoffs.
They actually traded two nephews that season. Logan Hunter was traded earlier to the Petes. He became a fan favourite in Peterborough playing on a line with Jordan Staal.I agree, I think the Knights are at a huge advantage in negotiating as they are flooded with 17/18 year old talent that other contenders just don’t have. Bodies are worth more than picks to Sudbury.
I don’t think London needs him but they didn’t need Adam Dennis, Dan Girardi or Dan Fritsche in 2005 either, no thrill like overkill!
I still can’t believe Mark and Dale traded away Rick Steadman (their nephew) in the 05 cup run.
