I'm probably just foolish, but I actually feel quite confident that Strait will be waived and a goner before the season starts.

For everyone who's penciling in Mayfield because of a solid 20 minutes of playoff time, I'd hold off. He'll be top pairing in Bridgeport. Pulock is ready and the team is ready to commit to him.

Hickey will always grind my gears as long as he's on the team, regardless of contract. Hopefully the deal is no longer than 2 years. I will lose it if de Haan is traded over Hickey.
You need 9-10 NHL ready D-men in your system to start the season between your AHL and NHL teams. They won't waive Strait because he's cheap injury insurance. He wouldn't make it through waivers but I know many here think otherwise.

I think anyone who's ever watched him play, or even looked at his stats, knows he would make it through.

Boston just traded a 3rd round pick for Zac Rinaldo, I think they're officially tanking for Auston Matthews now.

Feel bad for the B's, brings back so many bad memories.

Happy those days are behind us.

LAK are gonna play hardball on the SPC with Richards on failure to maintain the his playing condition - kinda think Deano had this backup plan in place and documented MR failure to meet his conditioning, this his failure to perform based on the terms of his NHL contract. The costs to litigate and settle this will be cheaper or similar to the buyout, but not hitting the cap as hard. Smart move...and another team finding a loophole in cap accounting.

In all seriousness, I wonder what the trade price-tag on Chara would be. Would next years first do it?

I think because of hype they'd ask for more. It's a tough situation because he's definitely on a decline, I don't know how I'd assess his value.

I'd take him, but Snow won't at 3 more years at 7/5/4M. That said if we did get him, pair him up with deHaan and let CDH skate up the rush and Chara just sit back and patrol the D-zone.

7/5/4 doesn't sound all that bad...

and a lot of teams that would want chara would have cap problems with that year 1 7M while the Isles wouldn't. If I'm garth I'm kicking the tires hard...

Bailey and the 2016 1st for Chara?

Chara is really slowing down, i don't want him anywhere near this team. I would love to get one of Martin/Ehrhoff/Sekera/Oduya in free agency, would really round out the top 4, moving Dehaan to the bottom pairing with one of Hickey/Pulock.

Now, I wonder what made the LAK terminate Richard's contract, when one of their other players beat their wife and they did not do the same...

I am thinking this is more than putting on a few pounds or getting bagged with a pocket full of coke, oxy, and black tar. In LA, that's just par for the course.

Irwin is a good option too, although I'd still prefer Barbeiro and Schlemko.

Not interested in Irwin. Very frustrating defenseman. Had a good rookie year, but has regressed. Get a feeling Schlemko re-signs in Calgary as a 6-7. Barberio seems intriguing though.

Vande-Sompel = MAB?

Noooo. So much better defensively, accurate shot, and incredibly poised.

Vande Sompel is a gem. I worry with our defensive depth though. This kid can be a real player for us.

I would be shocked if ROR does not hit UFA, the guy seems to be all about the money. Frankly I hope both Kane and ROR walk and Buffalo is left with nothing.

Tim Murray demonstrated that he's a scout masquerading as a GM. He's been talking about rebuilding the right way and yet he made all of these bold moves where he overpaid and reek of desperation to improve fast. He took on a ton of unnecessary risk and the moves seem so short sighted, it seems that he cares only by talent and has no regard for character. It could really blow up in his face and then this vaunted rebuild will require a reboot or reshuffle - preferably with a real GM.

ROR and Kane together, sounds like loads of fun. Traded a 1st round pick for a back up goalie.....not good.
