Islanders do not need to add to the D! Boy, Leddy, Ham, Dehaan, are our top 4 Strait is a 5-6 ...Mayfield should get his shot and Most likely resign Hickey......

Islanders Need Sharp! Plain and simple. Sharp rides shot gun on left side of JT......If Okposo is shopped Strome will slide into the top right.

wow I think I disagree with your post a full 100%

I saw Paranteau is being bought out. If he'd take a cheap one year deal, could be worthwhile as a flyer to see if he can rediscover that chemistry with Tavares. If Petrov and other badly utplay him during camp they could just cut him.

Do we even have room for any more forwards, even on one year deals? At my count we're at 13:

Tavares, Okposo, Strome, Nelson, Nielsen, Bailey, Grabovski, Kulemin, Lee, Grabner, Martin, Cizikas, Clutterbuck.

Grabner appears to be on the way out, but that still leaves us full. Maybe if you like him as a potential 13th, but I'd prefer someone who can play in a bottom-six role if necessary.

Also, we have two pretty good RW options for Tavares. I don't see that as a need.

Honestly you're probably right. I was really just thinking of a deal at the minimum, cheap enough that if he can't fit in we could cut him without much cost.

I'd certainly be open to that. Unfortunately though I don't think he has much shot at sticking, so I wouldn't mind them not bringing him in. I did like him though.

The question would be whether or not PA is better than Grabner as the 13th forward. It's been a while since he's played here and he hasn't stuck anywhere, so I'd be wary. Also, since nobody wants Grabner apparently, we could be eating up money and roster/contract spots.

We could always give him a PTO though, no?

I'd definitely like to have him back, especially since he'd probably be cheap. Not sure if the Isles will add any forwards given that they already have 14 (plus Indrasis) and can't seem to trade Grabner.

I like Sekara but I also feel he's a bit overrated. Someone's gonna pay him a lot of chicken and I don't think it should be us.

Sekera is good and very mobile. But we already gave out a contract for a similar (IMO better) puck moving D-Man in Leddy. I don't think he'll be worth the 6 x 6 he'll want and most likely get from someone.

I think the answer is somewhere down the middle.

Sharp could help, but we do need more D - safety incase someone goes down at a crucial time, as Boychuk and Hamonic did.

I think Lee maybe fair for the top line along with Strome. Nothing against Okie, but if a team out west looks at KO, his cap hit this season and how he shows up on a good day and offer a defenseman + for his services, it would be obstinate to not evaluate that.

I don't see the point of moving KO for a D. Not when there are a handful of perfect fits on the UFA market in Beauch, Oduya, and Martin.

Okposo has proven capable of excelling here and he's in his prime. I'll be disappointed if they don't lock him up.

Jesus, UFA is only three days away.

With the Isles being competitive, the new ownership, and the move to Brooklyn, I honestly wouldn't be shocked to see Snow make a splash in free agency. None of our RFAs are going to break the bank contract-wise so we've got some money to play with.

Okposo still needs to be locked up and there really aren't many UFA's that are worthwhile this year.

I don't see it happening, but adding Oduya would be fantastic. I would like to get bigger on defense, but if that isn't going to happen, I'd still love to get better. Leddy-JB, TH-CDH, and Hickey-Oduya with Pulock playing when CDH goes down for 40 games would be absolutely outstanding. The only problem is having Pulock up but not guaranteed to play every night. I forget who said it, but another poster made a good point that these kids have to play sooner rather than later. And Hickey isn't bad enough to require being rotated out regularly.

And despite the abundance of wacky opinions here, I'm not sure how we don't resign KO. How many high end offensive talents does the team have this year? Next year? Maybe you want to count Strome, so that takes us up to...three this year. Lee and Nelson, too? It might be a little premature to move on from a 27 year old, though it's logical to worry about eye stuff. I lost some vision in my left eye years ago and a) it never came back and b) the rehab process was awful when they thought it might. And I've not been the same player since it happened despite not being all that good to begin with.

I actually like Hickey a lot, but as long as he's a regular in our top-6 I don't think I could take this team seriously as a Cup contender.

He's tailor made for the #7 role, which is most likely where teams like Chicago, LA, NYR, Anaheim, etc would have him.

If I'm Snow, I make one of those veteran UFA LDs priority and head into TC with Pulock vs Mayfield for that last spot, with Hickey and Strait as the 7 and 8D.

What do you guys think of signing Fehr? Can really help the penalty kill and chip in 30+ points on the 3rd line. Still a decent age too.

I think we should waive Strait, move Hickey to the #7 spot and sign Oduya. Led-Chuck, Oduya-Hammer, CDH-Pulock. Switch CDH and Oduya if it makes more sense. Either way we need to move on from Hickey and get Pulock and Mayfield into the fold next year. These kids are ready and the only way we take the next step is by going into the playoffs with confidence in both of these studs.

We need to get "heavier" up front if we want to take the next step. Outside of the 4th line, our forwards "lean" on people...they don't hit them. Have to fix that ASAP

Then get a Martin type who can round out the top 6 on defense and a guy like Ramo to back up Halak and go to war...

We already have 13 forwards and that is before Petrov if he comes over.

If we add any forwards, it really only makes sense to add someone who can play a top 6 role. We're pretty stacked with depth forwards, between the fourth line, Nielsen, Grabovski, Kulemin, and Grabner.

I can't believe that you are satisfied with the Isles D as of now. You really want Strait playing every day? He is a #7 defenseman.

The Isles are not bringing back Visnovsky, and just traded away one of their top D prospects, and Donovan is a UFA too. This means that the Isles are counting on Pulock or Mayfield being ready, which I find difficult to believe. And if they have injuries, which will happen over an 82 game season, then what?

I wonder if Snow made the deal for Barzal because he has another defenseman all but signed. Don't forget, teams can talk with potential UFAs. My guess is, at some point this summer we bring in a veteran d and let Pulock-Mayfield-Hickey battle it out for playing time.

I still don't buy this. We have a nice mix of size in our top-9 - as much as teams like the Rags, Hawks, and Lightning. Just because we don't match LA's size doesn't mean that our core won't be capable of winning a Cup.

We need to stabilize that 3rd pairing and we need to see development from our young scorers, giving us two consistent scoring lines. If we get that, we will be a very dangerous team.

A 28 year old Iginla would go a long way. He would bring size and discipline to the first line which we sorely need. Then add a physically dominating checking center and away we would go.
