My dad listened to XM when Staple was on and he said he thinks they can get a second for Grabs.
There are a lot of nice players in the 2nd round range, and even 1st round talent that will drop to the 2nd. If we could get a 2nd for Grabs and his 1 yr $5M left, that would be remarkable.

Habs fan coming in peace and in no way repping the org. Just wanted to see if there was any interest in reacquiring parenteau. He had success with Tavares and with okposo potentially being traded there may be a spot for him.

I'm thinking something around Parenteau for grabner. Thoughts?

I kind of want to see Snow deal Grabner to acquire a second or third rounder.

The Islanders have to find the right team but I can see the Islanders getting as high as 50(which would be a late second rounder).

All that being said looks like Vancouver might want to trade Bieska. Might not be a bad pickup for our bottom pairing, he is tough and a righty. Maybe Bieska for Grabner(both UFAs next summer)?

Soderberg is a third liner.

I don't know why Colorado would want to overpay a third liner as opposed to ROR.

Their management is really bad, that's why. I don't know why they aren't recognized more as incompetent and as having received their positions through blatant nepotism, but it's the truth.

Bieksa is really not that good anymore and too expensive for our bottom pairing. Living in Vancouver, I've seen a lot of him and I've seen him getting worse every year, for years. Takes a lot of nights off and is getting slower and slower, would be a bad fit for the Isles.

Agreed. I'd be thrilled with a 2nd for Grabs. Could be equivalent to late first talent if we draft right.

I think Grabner wants out.

He hasn't played a lot over the last two seasons, and there is a lot of competition on offense for this team. Grabner is going into the final year of his contract, and is going to be a UFA in a couple of months, so i imagine that Grabner wants to play.

I also think his groin is a bit of a mystery at this point, we know that he's had a lot of trouble with it over the last two seasons, and don't know if it will be 100% next season. Capuano has shown in the past that he doesn't want to put Grabner in the line-up when his groin is bothering him, when realistically he can play.

Grabs always tended to be in Cappys doghouse too and half the time I never understood why.

I also never thought Capuano would out last Grabner, but I guess some mickey mouse organization habits die hard.

With his injuries, lack of production the last 2 yrs and $5m salary, that surprises me.
A higher pick then I expected.

I think it depends on what you define as a 2nd rounder. A second in this draft could be 31st or 61st(and I am guessing he gets nowhere close to 31st, but 61st seems more reasonable)

I agree. Grabner may give us the traction to move one of our thirds into the second round, but I really don't think he'll get a second by himself.

Hamilton seems to be available. They seem to want Boston local Hanifin.

I'd offer Hamonic + Okposo

And it sounds like Buffalo trades their other first rounder for Lehner and Legwand. That would be a bad trade.

I'd do that in a heartbeat. Really doubt Boston would though....but hey, they did trade away Seguin, so ya never know.

And he has such a small margin of error for him it seems. Grabs started the playoffs, he had one bad game (as the whole team did) and never saw the ice again. It was as if he was waiting for him to screw up to pull him.

Last year was a washout for him. I understand that he's the likely guy to go and am OK with that. But, if it should come to pass that he sticks around, I'm OK with that too. He still can be a quality player - especially if he already had his surgery (I"ve never seen that confirmed, just talked about) and is COMPLETELY healthy come Sept/Oct.
