obv the issue is on the back end.
We'll also need cap space to sign our 24 yr old leading goal scorer after next year.
or we pull a saad-like-deal and trade toffoli (which i don't want but we needed to lock up our core)

somehow acquire a veteran D for one spot. Give a good solid look to gravel or forbort or even both of them to take a spot. We don't have the caproom it's imperative for the kids to come in.

kids aren't always a bad thing... even though sutter would disagree. San Jose's kids were the difference
in game 5.

I was waiting to see what playoff Lucic would look like but never got to see him.

That surprised me too. He looked more invisible than the regular season. I remember his play with Boston in the post season and it was another level. Maybe age caught up or those days are just over.

The proof that management is to blame is the Red Wings and Chicago recently . They evolve and adapt and retool tremendously to stay competitive and bring more skill to the lineup like Panarin and others. Our management gets ******** over a kid like Prokhorkin playing few games. Ego is never good for business nor is not adapting to your environment .

Blackhawks had more successful drafts and Panarin doesn't beat his wife/girlfriend and ****.

Red Wings got eliminated in 5 as well so not sure what you're on about with that.

Id keep Schenn as a 6th dman. If he plays on the bottom pairing its ideal. But we do need a top 4 dman desperately and more speed and skill in our bottom 6. Not slow n pathetic King not hasbeen Brown not stone hands Lewis. Not smushed brain Clifford .

I never want to see Luke Schenn in a kings jersey again. What an awful player. King on the top line all playoffs was definitely not a good plan. Lucic can suck it. See ya

Red Wings stay competitive though and have made the playoffs 25 years in a row. Up until last year i think the Kings only had 5 years of making it in . And missed completely last year. Look at their prospects they draft incredibly and not big grinding players like Kings management does . They will be back to contending again soon. Theyre a great organization

I cant believe Sutter stuck King on the first line more than a game. Love Sutter, but he is starting to get a little stubborn with his line ups. The old Sutter would started rotating all forwards the fly until he found a fit, when our team was not playing well (which we never did the whole series).

You're asking for a complete rebuild and Detroit hasn't been anywhere in almost 10 years. Why hasn't their speedy finesse set up gotten them back to the Final? And why hasn't the east won since Boston?

Fair enough however for Lucic i think i would like to see him resigned or else what we gave up for him will hurt more . Our prospect pool is already very thin and we could have added an elite forward however we got Lucic who did make a big difference in the regular season. Many goals were scored with him parked infront the net. So id liken to give him another chance after our overpayment. Or else id be more furious with management.

Id like to see management go for some skill this draft. We freakin drafted Forbort instead of Tarasenko and we passed on Kucherov for Gibson when they dont even keep Bernier or Jones so if goalies are not part of their plan since they have Quick then draft skill. Or this year look at their draft picks. Bunch of tall grinders who have no skill.

Also Prokhorkin showed before he had intentions of coming over why let ego eat u up and get ******** over a few obstacles in the process. He wants guarantees and is demanding stupid things let it be if he has skill its a win. He doesnt perform you send him down and he goes back to Russia.

Which part of what i said is asking for a complete rebuild ? I dont think we need a complete rebuild at all. Just a little retooling. We have great pieces on our team just need to retool the bottom 6 and get rid of some pylons bring in some speed and skill and get a top 4 dman or let some of our kids play.

A little? You name half the roster as needing to be gone. That's not a retooling.

Lucic will help for 2-3 years but after that he'll be another Brown.

If there's anything this run proved it's that the depth of this team is very, very lacking.

There is a general lack of mobility and an inability to efficiently move the puck from this entire unit. I'm not singling out names, it is a collective issue with this squad.

The one positive I do take from this is that the glaring weaknesses were magnified and Lombardi and the coaching staff will have to address these issues and make the proper adjustments to prevent them from happening. Least I hope they aren't stupid enough to repeat the same mistakes.

I never knew 3-4 players makeup a complete roster. How many players did Chicago change and replace while winning cups ? More than 4 each year. And yet they add speed and skill and evolve.

Lol i named King, Brown, Lewis and said we need another dman, or you can let the kids play.

If they opt to do that it better be for a bargain. The big problem with losing Lucic is who is left at left wing. I shudder at the thought of Dwight King as a top six LW again.

This year's crop of UFAs is pretty crappy too.

Lucic has performed in the playoffs in past years id give him another chance after the premium we paid for him that cost us improving our prospect pool as well. He also made a bigger difference than just scoring points. More goals went in this year with him parking his read infront of the net. With him gone we would be even worse.

You also mentioned coaching staff and goalie. Chicago lost most of those players because they couldn't afford to re-sign them. If they could, they would have kept them. It wasn't some "Genius move." It was a necessity. They got lucky that their prospects panned out. You want to hold onto Lucic as well but he's not just going to want money, he's going to want term, at least 5 years.

Don't even know what Dean can do. There just aren't any good defensive free agents. Yandle at $6-7 million? No thanks. Trade? What are we trading? Pearson +++? And then the expansion draft you lose one of new defenseman, Doughty, Muzzin, or Martinez. No prospects and no picks for Dean to play with. Best case scenario is dump Brown and Gaborik and sign a couple scorers in their place but that's a lot easier said than done.
