The two forwards they got back in the trade + the upgrade to Clowe will more than make up for the lost 40 goals in terms of offensive production.

When you add up goals from Nash, Stepan, Hagelin, Richards and Callahan so far you don't get 40 goals. 82 games, you still need ~0,5 goals per game. From 3rd liners, even if divided with 3 players? Not going to happen.

You don't need a 3/3 split between Right and Left handed defensemen. But right now, the only right handed defensemen of any quality the Rangers have is Girardi.

The Rangers DESPERATELY need a Right-handed defenseman.
