Buffalo.... what a sad team. Can't believe they are only one point above us lol. I feel bad for any prospect getting drafted by this team.
Their management is awful. Trading away Eichel, Oreilly, Reinhart. Giving big contract on wanna be player like cliffton, Jokiharju, Samuelsson and cie.
They hope that all of their young kids will developp into nhler. At one point, management need to trade them for immediate help. Washington brought dubois, chychrun and Strome for cheap price.
Kulich, quinn, krebs are like untouchable.
It's like if we building our hope in Montreal on Mesar, Mailloux and beck. At one point. You need better player than that

As the season goes on I'm wondering if Montembeault is going to show fatigue issues where his play dips and won't be as a consistent. He is right now on pace to play 65 games this year as Primeau is becoming unreliable and practically unplayable. The issue is Montembeault has never played more than 50 games as a since turning pro and that was in 2018-19. He has played around the 40 game mark the last few years.

It's a self evident truism that rebuilds last longer when teams don't hit on their high picks.

Slafkovsky is regressing, Reinbacher is injured, and thus the Habs are tanking again. It's sad.
Is taking longer because we have not drafted any franchise player yet. We will see what Demidov bring next year. Is kinda crazy that Bob Gainey had drafted a Vezina winner and a Norris winner. We still have no prospect close to Carey Price.

2022 has a very weak draft year. We will see if Slaf bounce back next season. Good news about Lane Hutson. We are talking about someone who goes in the top 5 in a redraft. Beck will one day become our next Jack Evens.

With Reinbacher multiple injury, I'm more worry about 2023 draft. Again, we will see what he does next season. Him becoming a solid top 3 D is good for us. I still believe trading For Newhook has a mistake. Hope Jacob Fowler can become our #1 goalie in 3-4 years.

2024 has a good year for us with Demidov and Hage.

2025 : Hopefully, we draft in the top 4 and top 11-15 with Calgary pick.

Is that meant to be optimistic?
We are talking about a second round pick. What do you expect? Most of the players drafted after the first round don't make it to the NHL. If Beck can become a solid #3-4 Center for us is a good for us.

Do you expect every single player drafted by us in the second round to turn into Lane Hutson?

This stretch is soft so if they don't go well above .500, they'll definitely be in the mix for 4th OA.

San Jose has more GP than us. Chicago is awful. Nashville is worse.

Don't see us finishing below those 3.
That's fine

Martone
Misa
Schaefer
Hagens

I'd be fine with any of those 4.

It drops after that but guys like McQueen, Desnoyers are not terrible either.

It'd almost be better picking 4th so we don't have to make a decision and just take the guy left out of the Hagens/Schaefer/Martone/Misa group. Unless of course they galaxy brain it and take someone else.

Buffalo vs. Montreal on Tuesday. Somebody has to win!

They need a C badly. Very unlikely that get #1 so I’d be more than happy if they can land Misa.

just means that we can have our 4C for cheap, as Evans will be looking for a raise this year and there is really no need to pay up - as he will be valuable to a cup contending team as a 4C
The should sign him. He has played well this year and just keeps getting better. A good guy to have in bottom 6. Guy works hard every night.

I refuse to believe NSH will stay this crap. Just makes no sense.

SJS has good mojo this year. I think we'll out tank them.

These next 6 games will be huge for the tank. 3 easy ones vs potential tankers in division ...and then we play FLA, TBL, VGK. An 0-6 finish to cap off 2024 would be chefs kiss

I think the Ducks might actually be the worst of all but they've had some good goaltending and are overachieving.

I hope we can finish below one of SJ and Chicago and have Nashville wake up and play competent hockey. We really really need one of the top 4 prospects.

Let's hope our stretch from after Christmas to the end of January is terrible. It's 17 tough games, hoping for 5 wins max.

Tsam needed to be ass this season and they are.

No idea why they'd want to finish higher when the prospect pool has 1, maybe 1.5 high forward prospects in the prospect pool.

Habs need Calgary to falter a bit more

I’m not worried about Slaf. He started great, got hurt was put with Dach and slowed down. He looked great yesterday.

RB? Who knows? That totally sucked. But Hutson might as well be a high pick. I think he’ll be the best player in the 22 draft.

I still feel good about where we’re going long term.

Wasn’t paying attention to the Sabres, just noticed they have lost 10 in a row, yikes.

Sad, lol, even so they are still ahead of the shitty Habs.

Go Sabres break that streak, win the next one!!!

Evans is a consumate pro, however he has no special talents (except for experience). Unless he is willing to resign for $2M/yr x 5, im not interested..
Beck can do the same thing on entry level..

All our money(s) will need to be spent on Top 6F, Top 4D, 1G.
Reasonable contracts for 3rd line.
Reasonable contracts for 5th/6th D

Entry level (depth) minimum salary for everything else. The minute a team has $5M tied up on a useless vet who is mailing it in on the 4th line, the team is in trouble. This, is how small the difference is in todays NHL. Depth must be developed from within.. cost controlled

Outside the "established" top 4. I believe there are 3 very close 2nd tier in = McQueen, Desnoyers (on forward as centers) and Radim Mrtka as a RHD, as I think he will find his groove in the WHL.

Reality is, we would be hugely smart to finish bottom 4, hope for some luck..

But to the posters clamoring for a playoff push.. insanity.. let it go..

If during this year certain players prove/show they are regressing (lije Dach/Newhook) then trade them.. who effing cares?? The only objective should be to start next year with a legit top6, top4.

I have 0 (zero) care for keeping anyone on our team if they are not a contributing member of the top6. No time, no patience.. they have no stress, nit expected to make playoffs, so if they are unable to perform under these circumstances, they are useless to us.

Don’t know what he is asking for, if it’s reasonable they should sign. Evans never mails it in so that isn’t a problem. In fact, he is only one of the few who don’t.
