5 point out of last place and 5 points out of a wild card spot.
It's normal with only ~33 games played. You have to check the win percentage to get a clear view of the effort needed with the low amount of games played. Usually a clear playoff team has .600, bubbles may lie around .575. In the mix, imho doesn't start before .550 or 11 points per 10 games.

In the mix in our conference was at a very low win % last season any team playing for .500 around TDL had a legitimate shot at a wild card.
It's one of those areas where you can say what's the point like we've seen these past two seasons some teams pulled up their tent pegs.
Both Buffalo and Detroit had legitimate shots in the past two seasons and it all went wrong when they sat on their hands.
That is when a losing culture can set in.

seriously, I don't know if I've seen a weaker NHL in history. The league is really bad as a whole. A few great teams, and then complete 'meh'

People on this forum trashed Weber non-stop, but you never saw this country club atmosphere or awful efforts with him around. I'd suggest Chairot, Edmundson etc all were pretty decent leaders and vocal.

That being said I think Arbs, Guhle are good leaders and will be the future voices on this team.

I remember at the time of the trade saying that Weber was in a no win situation with some fans who absolutely adored subban.

Obviously, Weber had no control over the situation but he just got caught in the middle of it.

I appreciated what Weber brought. I just wish he didn't have so many physical issues while he was here.

They went from Weber/Suter to Weber/Josi to Subban/Josi. Nashville had an incredible run on defence for awhile. Especially when Ekholm and Ellis emerged. We were pretty stacked with Subban/Weber, Markov, and Petry as well.

Give it 2-3 weeks

You're not convincing anyone with recency bias versus the dreg of the league. What was the last half decent team we beat? Oilers, almost a month ago.

The fall back down to earth will be hard for some.
I actually like having this thread. If it wasn’t here, There’d be no where for me to yell “Shut down this thread!” everytime something happens.

Tough part of the schedule coming. That will be a real test.

No doubt the team has improved in recent weeks and the recent trade is going to help. But even with that we’re still a lesser team and these upcoming clubs are going to be really challenging.
thought you were the hope and dreams guy?

Not only did we make a trade for a 20 minute guy, but we got Laine whose a bonafide superstar whose making our PP amongst the best in the league. And lastly, it seems like everything has started clicking from a coaching perspective.

I’d say we don’t yet know how good we really are this year. These next few games will show us

I'm realistic.

I had us as a .500 team coming into the year. And even those modest expectations were wrecked when we got off to that horrible start.

Yes. We're a better team than we were. But that 2nd line is still hindered by Dach's recovery. Laine doesn't look great 5 on 5 either as he's coming off a leg injury of his own.

But the PP is lethal. We've got a guy eating minutes. We'll do better than we would've. I'll maintain that we won't be drafting top five but I doubt we make the playoffs either. We'll see though - either one of those scenarios could happen. And my crystal ball for this year has been really off.
