How about an idea to get non playoff players into the playoffs….

I been thinking lately how what a shame it is for some great players that are not getting a shot at some playoff hockey. We got some real elite players missing the playoffs like Sid, Thompson, Dahlin, Pastrnak just to name a few.

So we have the trade deadline where players get moved from teams that are not in contention or just decide to move on for other reasons. What if we made something like a non playoff team player trading deadline. Like teams can pick who they want to add to their team for a playoff run but only from teams out of the playoffs. You can trade your draft picks if you desire but its only an option as a rental scenario as all these players will report back to their old teams the following season.
You are nominated. What for? says you. Dumbest post award says I

I don’t like this at all.

If you want to see more of these players in the playoffs, a better idea would be to have only the top 6 teams get into the playoffs straight away, while having teams from 7 through 10 have a series for the last two spots (7th vs 10th, 8th vs 9th), and the top 6 teams have a bye during this.
This has been introduced in the Swiss National League for a few seasons now and it’s pretty good.
