OT: Official OT Thread XIV - Tonight we're gonna party like it's MCMXCIX

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates

Ah, I see. I was confused about your earlier post; I understand what you meant now. I noticed that tab in the lobby screen.

Swampland and Wargames from Pack 1 look pretty badass though. I might download them, but I'm worried that once Destiny comes out I won't pick it up for the next 6 months, lol.

I'm not a fan of Swampland.

Good call on waiting for the maps. The community is already dying and with Destiny coming in a couple of weeks, it's going to get even smaller. They might discount the maps to try to get people back in the mix, so wait for that.

They're still maps I haven't played. I played Outpost 207 this afternoon for the first time. What a great sniping map; some really badass sight lines.
 
So i took over network administration for a Mom and Pop Place, as a contractor/side gig. I'm talking to their person that should help me, we'll call him "Tech", trying to get some info on a basic set-up of 1 workstation 1 server network set-up with a Router for them which I inherited and exceeds licencing.

Me: "So how many network cables should be connected to the router?"

*Keep in mind i'm not trying to embarrass or show off in any way, just want to confirm some info.*

"Tech": "2, one for the workstation and one for the server"

Me: "Um wait, shouldn't there be a 3rd for the WAN or internet so we can-"

"Tech": "No there should be 2 connections!"

Me: "Well yes but what about-"

"Tech" then proceeds to be very irate after first inferring that I don't know how to use internet explorer even though I used command line to ping google to confirm internet connectivity (I had calmed down from that insult.)Then he tells me to tell the owner to call them back because he can't help someone with an [all-star/super IT person] and he's telling all of his reps not to talk to me until that happens. And I have to learn to calm down.

I know this field is full of hard-heads which you sometimes need to be (i'm including myself) but has Humility completely gone from out culture?
