Had to laugh seeing pesky Scott Sabourin on the list. Matthews is going to be checking his name as Sabourin bends down finding his jock strap during scrimmages.

According to the news this morning, to date the NHL only has an agreement with the Alberta provincial government on the conditions for its Canadian teams to play out the 2021 season from their home markets.

Unless he is hurt, it is not a good look for Lily if they keep 4 F and 1 D on the taxi squad and he is not one of them.

OTTAWA, Ontario — The Canadian government, citing “national interest grounds,” gave its approval Thursday for the start of NHL training camps. It issued an exemption to the mandatory 14-day quarantine period for NHL players and team staff to return to the country.

The five provinces with NHL franchises, however, must give their approval for games between Canadian teams during the regular season, which is scheduled to start Jan. 13. The seven Canadian teams will play in a new North Division.

Alberta became the first province to say the NHL can play games in its arenas. The provincial government told The Canadian Press on Thursday it approved Edmonton and Calgary following a review of protocols outlined in the league’s return-to-play plan, along with additional enhancements.

He is outstanding with the puck.
If he has gotten stronger why wouldn’t he make the lineup?

I guess it has yet to be signed off by the governments of BC, ON, Man, and Que.

I believe they are. At least Rubins is. However, they aren't close enough to bring them to camp given the current circumstances.

Too many options likely to be ahead of him at the start. The four holdovers from last season are now joined by Brodie, Bogosian and Lehtonen. A member from that list will already be on the outside looking in for some games. Sandin could still play in a lot of games or win a spot outright as the season progresses though.

I think you're pretty close.

Once the AHL season starts Liljegren and Sandin will likely head down to play if they aren't getting consistent minutes with the Leafs. Marincin and Rosen would come to sit in the pressbox.

Maybe Sabourin earns a contract to sit in the taxi squad too? In case we need a tougher player on the 4th line? Not really Dubas or Keefe's usual MO though.
