Isaiah Douthwright??

Who is this Douthwright kid ... elite prospects has no stats for him for the last 2 years ... a youtube link on him suggests he scored 57 goals in 42 games ... 94 total points. Not clear what league he was playing in ... probably playing at level or two below where he should play. 5'7" 141 is not a big player ... but perhaps those are outdated stats as well.

EDit: Found this ... www.asdb.com/profile/isaiah-douthwright

Looks like he played a year in a Vermont Prep School and then played MAA last year ... listed at 5'8" 185 now ... probably a little heavy now. Looks like he has offensive skill but tough to make the jump from MAA to CHL.

Yea this wildcats team could have been a lot worse, all things considering.

I also think Lalonde is quite underrated. Offense overall is a little thin, but, can still compete every night with that lineup.

I know it's definitely a rebuild year but I don't think we'll be like Shawinigan/CB/SJ were last season. We lost most of our better players but have 12 or 13 returning players. I think we'll finish between 13th to 15th.

Do you really think Cam Yarwood would knock out a guy like Alex Mann on the D-pairing? I don't see Whitlock having a spot on the team either and possibly not even Mark Simpson. Simpsons skating still isn't very good. I see a guy like Liam Hynes making the line up over these guys.

Yarwood is definitely a better player right now over Mann. The difference is Yarwood will be 19 and Mann 17. As I'm sure you already know , Yarwood played for Napean of the CCHL where he puts up decent numbers (41-6-14-20). So better league and better numbers.

I know a lot of people don't really consider Whitlock on the team but Flynn is very high on him and he'd be great to have on the fourth line. He's a big body that likes to bang, he's hard to play against and a very hard worker. Sounds like a player that fits the mold of what Rumble wants to do this year. Look at how small our team is shaping out to be. Surely Flynn will try to get bigger.

Mark Simpson's skating is his weakness , no doubt. I watched him play a lot this past season and can say he's make strides and has improved in that area. He's a very smart player who knows where to be. He has a nose for the net and decent hands. He had a very respectable season with Dieppe (51-21-25-46). He also brings size which the team is surely lacking. He also had a great camp with the Wildcats last season. I could see him sticking around , even as a 13th forward.

I'm not even sure I can give Cape Breton that much rope. Once a rebuild hits 3 full years and you don't make the playoffs, you're just a bad team. My shrink, who has season tickets, told me that. No joke.

2013-14 Team Captains

Captain - Ryan Penny
Assistant - Danick Emond
Assistant - Christophe Lalonde / Mark Tremaine

Ryan Penny deserves it imo. He's been our most underrated player the past couple of seasons. He's a guy that gives it his 100% every single shift. He's a team player that's well liked by other players and he'll be a four year veteran this upcoming season. I also expect him to have a good season statistically, likely one of our leading scorers. He quietly put up 20 goals and 30 points last season. Another reason Penny should be name captain is for the fact he'll most likely be here for the 2014-15 season as a 20 year old as well. I for one am not a fan of having a new captain each year. When looking up the definition of a leader , Penny certainly fits the description!

Danick Emond would be my first choice for assistants. He was one of our most improved players last season. He wears his heart on his sleeve and stands up for his teammates. He's entering his fourth year in the league as well and will be relied on heavily this season.

If Rumble opts to only go with one assistant captains , it's a tough call. I'm not the biggest Lalonde fan but he does deserve to be mentioned when talking about leadership. He had a break out season with almost 30 goals. He'll likely be our leading goal scorer this year and will have to lead the way offensively. He too isn't afraid to stick up for his peers. If not him , Mark Tremaine may not be the flashiest guy but gets the job done. He's a reliable player defensively and will play key minutes including on the penalty kill. He battles hard , gives it his all and goes into the corners. He'll be a third year vet. Definitely a team player.

if a 19yr old coming from Jr. A and Brayden wood form your 2nd best D pairing.....that says all you need to know about what kind of year it will be :)

I don't think anyone has said we have depth. I know you're probably unfamiliar with it but we're in year #1 of a rebuild...

Agreed. That's pretty slim pickings, expecting Caissy to fill a top line spot and Yarwood being a 3-4 dman. That's the life of a rebuilding team. If they young americans join the team and they are as good as advertised, you'll be competitive in 3-4yrs again, despite hardly having picks to work with.

I hope in 3-4 yrs, that wildcats learn their lesson and dont trade the farm in order to go for it again. Most teams have gotten away from that. It hasnt worked for many teams in the past.

What Moncton did last year felt like what Cape Breton did a few years back. Take a slightly above average team, and try to make it a top contender, blowing a lot of assets to do so with little success.

Wondering how Adam Holwell fits into the Wildcats plans moving forward? Do you guys think he has a chance to crack the opening day lineup?

It's hard to say without seeing him play but there are only three returning on defence (Emond,Sweeney and maybe Wood) , so there's definitely a chance. Flynn stated numerous times this past season though that he would rather send a 16 year back to develop rather than have him in and out of the lineup. It will come down to what he does at camp imo.

I've seen him play multiple times, and IMO, he's certainly equal to or better (90% of the time) than Mcabe.

To Bathurst:

Jake Primeau

To Moncton:

12th 2014

Good deal for both sides. We get an asset for a 19 year old who wouldn't crack our roster. Bathurst get a cheap extra dman.

An asset?

Really!

Bathurst get a "cheap D" who will probably never play here.

If there is no room on your lineup for him, I doubt very much he cracks the Titan's.
