Total(pre-RFA's):
$45.2M

you can add (2) more sub 1,000,000 players at each wing, and Bernier in exchange for Ersberg bringing the total to approx $47.2M with 2 LW and 1 Defensman needed. needed.

If those wingers are Westgart $600,000 and Clune $600,000 which is realistic, and Harrold is not included that leaves us under $46m approx. for 2 LW and a dman ( almost 12 M in cap space

Schenn gets a year in the AHL so Handzus $4M departure will help with the bonus money.

I can see us making a play for 1 big name UFA but with Doughty, Johnson and Simnmer in for big raises I wouldn't hope for 2.

12 Million in cap space and it doesn't feel like enough... Man worrying about the cap sucks :)
It's a good problem to have though since it probably means you've got a good team. 12M not counting Frolov. Anyone else feel like we really could use a top 4 puck moving defenseman? Those don't come cheap, unless we gamble with Hickey or some other prospect. If we don't sign Frolov we'll need another scoring left winger... Man it feels like that money is gonna get eaten up quickly.

The way this little stretch is going, im about ready to look at next season.

Smyth-Kopitar-Williams
Richardson($1.25M)-Stoll-Brown
Frolov($3.5M)-Handzus-Simmonds
Parse($900K)-Lewis-Clune($700K)

Doughty-Scuderi
JJ-Greene
Drewiske-Hickey/Voynov($900K)
Harrold

Bernier($843K)
Quick

$50M. Enough space for one pretty big piece. But who?

Provided he checked out health-wise I'd consider Souray, personally. Probably get him for peanuts, and our need on the blueline has become painfully obvious, especially on the PP.

Updated the chart for Ray Kaunisto and Brandon Kozun.

Also added Brayden Schenn.

Unfortunately, the only way I see Marleau leaving SJ is if they choke in the first 2 rounds again. In which case, I don't know if I want him on this team anyway.

I'm starting to think a top 4 D-Man would be more valuable than Kovalchuk, considering the scoring depth.

Kopitar: 30+
Smyth: 20+
Brown: 20+
Simmonds: 25+(if he gets any PP time at all)
Richardson: 20+(I think he will since he will be on the top 9 all next season)
Handzus: 20+
Stoll: 15
Parse: 15+
Doughty: 15+
JJ: 10+

So, where did Stoll get traded to? And where's Schenn?

Updated the thread for the 2010-2011 season. Congratulations Kings fans. Dan Cloutier is officially off of the books completely! Only one buy-out remains.

So, who do we get this offseason? Who do we re-sign and for how much? Dean Lombardi predictions? Here is the place to talk about it.

Let me know if there are any mistakes in my charts. Wasn't sure on a couple of changes.

The only mistake is that the cap will be $57.7M next year.

Do you have a link or anything to it? I can't find the new cap anywhere and last I heard, it was going to either stay flat or drop very slighty, no more than a million.

Since Kovalchuk is gonna be at the top of the list for DL, let's gage the market. Listed below is every team and if they will be in on him and if not, why.

ANA-No. need help on the back end and Bobby Ryan is RFA.
ATL- No. Kovy just turned down multiple offers from them.
BOS- Yes. Obviously need help upfront.
BUF- No. They almost never spend on outside FA's.
CAL- No. Cap screwed, should rebuild.
CAR- No. Semi-Rebuilding, need Goaltending.
CHI- No. Cap screwed, may have to move a guy just to get under.
COL- Yes. Ton of cap space, good young team.
CBJ- No. Don't spend on outside FA's.
DAL- No. Will have to pay Lehtonen, could go into Rebuild.
DET- No. have to pay Lidstrom, only have 5 forward under contract.
EDM- No. Rebuilding, need to assess goaltending as well.
FLA- No. Could go into rebuild again, don't think Kovy would go there anyway.
LA- Yes. An Elite scorer is the man piece needed to be a cup contender.
MIN- Maybe. Never seem to spend(Havlat the exception). Though it would make sense.
MTL- No. Have to pay one or both Goaltenders, and Plekanec.
NSH- No. Have to pay Hornqvist and Grebeshkov, don't spend on outsiders anyway.
NJD- Yes. Kovy was one of the few bright spots for them in the playoffs.
NYI- No. Rebuilding, have a ton of RFA's to pay.
NYR- Yes. But it would take a long-term, low hit deal. It would be a tight fit after paying Staal.
OTT- No. Need help on the back-end and in goal, offense is fine.
PHI- No. Cap screwed. Need to address goaltending.
PHX- Maybe. Usually don't spend, thought it would do wonders to keep them in Phoenix.
PIT-No. Loaded upfront, only have 2 D-Men under contract.
SJ- Maybe. If they choke in the 2nd round and decide to let Marleau walk.
STL- Yes. Good young core, ton of cap space.
TB- No. Loaded upfront, desperately need help on the back end and in goal.
TOR- No. Rebuilding, have only 4 forwards under contract.
VAN- No. Have to pay Kesler and Raymond, as well as a few D-Men.
WSH- No. Have to pay Backstrom an Fleischmann, loaded upfront as it is.

So to me, STL, SJ, PHX, NYR, NJD, MIN, LA, COL, BOS will be the main players on Kovalchuk.
