Post-Game Talk: Official Kings (2) vs Soilers (3) Series talk

The Kings are unstoppable as long they don’t sit back. Aside from that horrendous challenge, that PP goal last night was a clown show. They just can’t be passive at all or else the Oil will cut through em.

So many dialed comments. This board is in the zone.

My take.

This game was 100% unforced errors on Hiller.

-Lewis rides pine and has the speed of a donkey in the Kentucky derby. Worthless substitution.

-attempting to shutdown the 2 best offemsive players in the league with a short bench.

-having that short bench had Kempe gassed at the end of the game when you needed a goal from the only guy with some juice.

-playing Drew doughty on the point EOG when you need a goal. You don’t trust him on the power play but you want him out there with his pea shooter shot. Dead legs and slow ass telegraphed passes?

-dressing Spence if your not going to play him.

-playing a trap game to “lock “ a game down when you haven’t been able to lock a game down in 4 years against this team.

-pressure and puck control has beaten Edmonton the last 4 years but you suddenly want to reinvent the wheel.

-f***ing with a winning lineup in the playoffs!

-Challenging a call with nothing to gain in a situation that has the potential to lose them game for you.read the room that goal was never getting called back.they already reviewed the play and reversing it shows them up. It wasn’t going to happen.

I think this is partially the reason for the 5 forward PP. So Drew can play more minutes at 5on5.
I think its more that Hiller wanted Q up on PP1. In fact, I'd take Drew over Kopi on PP1 - his slap shot is actually the one thing he's improved on over the years... he's also less indecisive than Kopi... I admit the bar is pretty low there. In the end, Id prefer to have neither of them on PP1.

He’s just so damn predictable and can’t look off a defender and send it the other way or maybe he just doesn’t?

This! THIS!!! And THIS!!! Could not have said it better!!

Right side of the defense is a problem right now.

Spence basically had to be benched. Clarke is essentially a rookie. Doughty is 55 years old.

I don’t know what you’re talking about, Roy & Faber are both looking pretty good out there

I’m celebrating no matter what.

Blake blows a 2-0 lead and we lose to them again he’s gone.

We beat the Oilers and McDavid is still 0 for…
The org isn’t firing the GM of a team who just tied its reg season point total. Keep dreaming. Not saying I agree/disagree, just know it won’t happen.

It is funny though to see the dramatics around here after one loss….I take it you all had the Kings in 4? L….O…..L

Messing with the line up showed last night. The 4th line had 5 shifts all night, so what was point of putting Lewis in there? There's a reason he scratched him the last 7 games, yet he thought he'd be a better fit than Turc. Not sure what Spence did so bad that got him benched from most of the 2nd and the entire 3rd. 4 total shifts and forced the rest of the right side to play way too much. Just stick with 11/7 if you don't trust him.

Re Spence, he didnt suddenly turn to shit, he was good during the regular season. Let him play through whatever nerves or whatever is effecting him - he will be fine. That is the problem with Todd and Hiller - they have so little faith in the younger players they actually create the issue by continually hurting their confidence. Their alternative which is running out the vets obviously isnt a solution because they are worn out... and we havent even gotten to an OT yet.

Bernstein directly asked Hiller yesterday why Spence was limited in ice time....Hiller's exact quote:

"We play the players, who in the moment, we think are going to give us the highest probability to win the hockey game. Some guys are going to play more, some guys will play less and that could be from night to night."

I understand his reasoning. I just think its shortsighted. I think one of the advantages the Kings have over EDM is depth. If you dont use the depth, you lose one of the advantages.

In 2012 I recall Voynov, King and Nolan making mistakes, dumb turnovers, penalties etc.. but Sutter kept with them even using them with 2 minutes remaining in a 1 goal game. As vet centric as he was, when he liked a kid, he played them in situations where it would be reasonable to shorten the bench. I think that paid dividends. It was a risk but in the end he got a lot of value out of it.

This series is the cup for the Kings org right now. All they are looking to do is win each period.

And with all due respect...Spence ain't no Voynov, and players like Nolan/King had about 50lbs on guys like Turcotte. Big difference in the post season....
