I never understood the real purpose of these mock threads. I thought the whole idea was to try and come up with the closest draft to the actual results and then produce a final tally based on who has the most selections at the right round and rank, and declare a winner for bragging rights and ****s and giggles.

Instead of that, are you guys simply making selections for the hell of it? What's the end game?
Making what we think is the best selection, the draft isnt the end game, its the careers of the players drafted.

Do you ever refer to these threads once the real draft is done? So it's just about each drafter's take on the players they favor?

When, in hindsight, someone makes a particularly bad selection given who else was on the board, you get to make fun of them for the rest of eternity.

Actually some do. I believe I've seen @ProspectsFanatic refer to past performances in picks when discussing his Draft Software. We're talking even years after the fact. I could be wrong about him specifically, but I've seen multiple people refer to this mock and those on the main board.

I do though try to be realistic. I personally do weigh BPA and needs when I choose. In my pick of Tkachuk, I believed he was BPA at #12, and I think the Islanders can use some grit on the left wing. My opinion of Tkachuk isn't terribly high, but I wasn't going to choose a defenceman slated for later in the round or even the second to fill a need (NYI need defensive help) because of my opinion of him as a potential Montreal first round pick. Do I actually think Tkachuk will be there at #12 IRL? I don't, but if he were, think the Isles would skip him? I don't think they would.

I still stand by though, it is for fun ultimately. I'm sure you've seen random comments about McLeod being picked top-5. It's these mocks where we get gems like that :)

Well Kravtsov is a Top 10, possibly Top 5 talent. With two picks you take the risk, especially considering you know you have a safe player in Tkachuk.

This was my thinking. I did have Kravtsov in my top-15 and was aware of the risk, but felt at #12, Tkachuk would be a no-brainer.

I was certain a couple teams had some interest in Tkachuk. I was shocked he fell to me, though I could have grabbed him at #11, but you know... spite.

I just looked on his profile, he was logged in about an hour ago. Tags are unreliable, I think everyone should just do the old PM thing, better that way.

Didn't work in my case, had no notification of the tag yesterday, even though I was @ by WTK. Good thing I got here once I came back from work.

Well, not to sound like an ass, but it’s been about 13 hours. I assume @TT1 PM’d him, but I did also.

Just saying. Maybe he forgot about the mock or can’t find it (if it’s dropped down the list depending on activities in other threads).

Flyers select Isac Lundstrom. A 2 way Swedish center that plays a strong 200 foot game.

While his skating is simply decent or even above average his high IQ and two way game make him a can't miss prospect in our eyes. Scouts have even compared him to Mikko Koivu and Patrice Bergeron.

I've pretty much got the list nailed down in line with you guys right now.. but here is where things are going to go wild, this is where my list shifts and deviates a lot from consensus.
