Official 2026 Utah Mammoth Off-Season Thread

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
Iginla, Desnoyers and Bodoin(sp) should get at least a cup of coffee with the team. But and Simashev should get the year to show what they can do. So should MavLam, for that matter. If there's going to be a year for lots of rookies to make their mark, this is it. In two years we will hopefully be true contenders and there won't be room for more than a couple of rooks to make the team.
Iginla better get 82 coffee's.

You were trying to convince the audience here that because other teams decided to throw their first round picks into the deep end of the pool right way then BA should just do it too.

And I've been explaining that BA don't work that way.
What I was trying to explain is that other high end prospects play because they are ready. If Utah is going to "keep up with the Jones," next year it all won't come by trades, and I'm sure BA won't sign many of Utah's UFA's, so what is left. Sim and But are probably locks, and Iginla is better than probably both. I think it was Button who said that Iginla is the best player not playing in the NHL. As far as Des, Beaudoin and Smith who knows, but development camp and training camp will be very interesting.

Well,
Man, do you like dreaming.
It beats complaining about the past!
This roster needs a little tweaking to go with the influx of rookies. Ideally a power forward to take Yamamoto's place. Knies would provide a whole new dimension to the overall aggressiveness to the Mammoth (and a healthy McBain), his familiarity with members of the Mammoth, his age...
Knies - Cooley - Guenther

Sounds so much better than Larkin!

What am I willing to give to give up?
My collection of Coyote's bobbleheads.
Other than that I'm pretty impoverished.

If you mean how does the trade start, well from what I've read, the dried up leaf wants a high draft pick to pick a D and sounds like the BHs are set on Malhotra, Desnoyers is very comparable and hasn't used up any of his ELC.

A D? Who? Utah doesn't have a high draft pick.

I think that Thomas is worth Schmaltz and 2 firsts. For Larkin, one first.
I agree, but not to StL.
Thomas isn't worth Schmaltz & 2 firsts

...and it would be a straight up swap Schmaltz for Larkin, I do agree with you that Thomas is the better player to Larkin, but not by a lot.
Thomas would mean so much more to the Mammoth than Larkin would and Schmaltz shouldn't be in the conversation anyways except perhaps comparing values exclusively to Utah.

Eh, Larkin is worth more than schmaltz and likely by a lot. Schmaltz is a poor center and is a product of Keller. Larkin is a driver and creates things on his own.

I’d do schmaltz and two first for Thomas in a heartbeat. Thomas is young and a proven number one center.

Larkin is better than Schmaltz but by a lot? I am not sure.

Larkin is a better goal scorer but offensively they are pretty close. Schmaltz has pretty decent defense.

Cmon now. You are over valuing Schmaltz. Both Larkin and Thomas are younger, bigger, better PPG and much much better C's. You would never get Larkin straight up for Schmaltz. You are saying Thomas is a better player than Schmaltz, but not by much?

I agree. There is a reason Larkin is invited to these tournaments.

Although I disagree they are similar offensively, which they are not in my opinion, Larkins value is a lot more than schmaltz.

Schmaltz would be lucky to fetch a 1st rd pick. Larkin will go for likely double that, if not more.

I think they are closer but Larkin has a much higher reputation.

Peterka to Ottawa for picks, then picks to Detroit for Larkin?

I don't mind ending the Peterka experiment early but Larkin's a bit old for us to be shipping out youth for.

Edit: KNIES!!! Ottawa gets JJP, Utah gets Knies and Toronto gets picks.
