Official 2025 NHL DRAFT Thread

This draft is so much weaker than last year, but that means more chaos in the real picks and we might accidentally steal a good player. expect lots of Scott Laughtons.
My simple read on this draft is very few prospects have any elite traits, I think there are 4-5 players with at least 1 elite trait. They are young so some could get better, but it doesn't bode well for the class as a whole, when you are looking a 1st round picks with a middle 6 ceiling.

Don’t necessarily know where to put this but it could have potential ramifications on this draft too with Michael Misa & Porter Martone apparently.

This will happen a lot, going forward. Get your first year at a big college after your are drafted. Better for some than returning to the CHL for another year. Start your education and then turn pro after a year or two. I don't see any of the top draft prospects being NHL ready for next year anyway. Let them cook.

Yeah I’m just saying those two might be considering Penn State apparently too if it’s not the NHL at least for Michael Misa.

Tampa fan here. Wanted to get this out quick. A little about me, I'm from north east PA originally. Both my parents were from Philly (both sides it's all Philly) I grew up and started out a Flyers fan. When I moved to Florida years later (though it took a couple years) eventually and then naturally transitioned to the Lightning. Living in Florida made me hate PA honestly.

Anyway, just came to say I still love the Flyers and hope they get #1 tonight. And if so as an old fan I hope for Schaefer. I won't be disappointed in Misa either. Michkov needs a center but I tend to favor a #1 D.

I read you guys occasionally and watch the Flyers when the Lightning are not on.

Good day and God help us.

I feel like these high picks who dominated the CHL and really should be in the AHL (sounds familiar) rather than rushed to the NHL in their D+1 would be some of the biggest beneficiaries to this new rule. It’s a step up without rushing.

we dont get nice things..

make no mistake us getting MM wasnt the plan it was a total failure on MTLs part..

if they take MM, the Flyers woulda taken some big bodied D. nobody...

you can bank on that

I guess I'm the only one not high on desnoyers?
i just took a turd all over him last page, but yea i really dont want desnoyers. I like Kindel and Potter more than him... and JOB and Ryarbkin for that matter just based on potential upside. Desnoyers has good 2nd line ceiling but we need to swing swing swing

My guesses on who the Flyers draft depending on how the draft lottery goes:
1-Schaefer/Misa
2- Misa
3- Misa/Hagens
4- Misa/Hagens/Frondell
5- Desnoyers/Martin
6- Desnoyers/Martin

It seems some scouts have been really down on Hagens though so there is a chance he’s there at 5 or 6

Took some valuable work time this morning to run some historical Q numbers to see where Desnoyers stacks up to notable NHL forwards and his two first round possibilities from the Q.

He's clearly a lesser prospect than Couturier since that is somebody everybody has a reference point for. His counting stats look a little less impressive when accounting for team strength. I don't even think that's the most telling thing though. These stats don't account for league quality and you can see from some of the names, the Q just does not produce impact players anymore. Lafreniere is the clear #2 behind Crosby for post-2000 Q players and one of the most accomplished Junior players in recent memory and he's a career ~40 point player at the NHL level! Yeah there's some nice middle 6ers in there but where are the stars in the last decade?

It would be really hard for me to stamp my name to someone from this version of the Q without them being a massive statistical outlier.
Clode on the list ♥️
