Official 2025 NHL DRAFT Thread

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Crazy how things worked out and how much could have been drastically changed for a lot of fans.

We 100% should be targeting them. Any player that leaves there does better and they have high draft stock that they have to be lower on than any other team given their history. I actually think TK could do wonders for them.

Flyers would probably have to take cap back, so someone like Zucker would probably come back. Mainly because Buffalo still would need to re-sign Peterka, Quinn, Kozak and Byram (and maybe JBD).

On the flip side, we all know the Flyers will spend so much of their cap on overagers that do nothing for the team and keep roster spots away from better, younger players.

If im being realistic, lately ive been falling out of love with Hagens, and started liking Martone a lot more. Seems like this year is a Misa or bust year for Philly tho.

If we can grab Hagens or Martone at 4th/5th pick, I would be happy. I think the criticism on Hagens is becoming overblown as the draft nears.

If the Hockey Gods want to pay their restitution to Philly for the Kane/JVR draft season by giving us first overall, now would be the time or better yet next year.

The positive is that after next year there should be a legitimate “core” to build around with Michkov, 2025 top 4-5 pick, 2026 1st. What has been the Flyers Achilles heel for a long time is rounds 2-7. They absolutely need to find some top 6/top 4 talent outside the 1st. Not including goalies (who are often drafted outside the 1st) Ghost is probably the best Flyers pick in like 20 years in rounds 2-7. That’s not good at all

I think Danny makes a move and grabs two spots in the top 5. He grabs Hagen, Martone and later in round one he gets Aitcheson
The only way that's conceivably possible is a TK trade and there's no chance Danny has the stones for that.

I'll never go over how much they've actively sabotaged themselves. Like not even the full multi-year tank that I wanted. But like if they just did what they did any way but omit the truly idiotic stuff, they'd be in an amazing position right. You could've had a nice base of wings between Michkov, TK, Gauthier, Foerster, Tippett, Brink. You'd have a defensive core of Buium, Sanheim, York, and Bonk. You could then throw all of your assets at centers this offseason with a nice amount of cap space to fill in around the edges.

But nope. We had to piss off Cutter because we were concerned about an overage going into a rebuilding season and then galaxy brain the Luchanko pick.

Regarding Konecny..does he have a No Trade Clause? Flyers have to focus on Gavin McKenna. He could be a franchise altering player. How many teams will be worse than the Flyers next year as of now? Chicago and SJ have to have some upward swing or they have to start being a bit concerned

Unfortunately it was always going to be ugly. They should have bit the bullet for the tank 2-3 years ago but there is no going back. But better late than never. As long as the Flyers stay quiet in free agency they have a good chance at McKenna and DuPont the next couple years. It’s always darkest before dawn and I think the Flyers future outlook will be much brighter in 2-3 years

Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think that Chicago and SJ are going to be eligible for the top pick in 2026 because they both will have twice had that selection in a five year period.

They would have to add a lot of draft capital to move TK with that new contract kicking in. Or eat a massive contract coming back. Tk isnt going anywhere. Outside of Couts, Tk has the least tradable contract in the team considering his age and upcoming term . The ship has sailed and Briere really screwed that up

Little concerned about the Flyers draft with the extra picks. It seems likely they want to trade those picks to move up or get a player, like last year. But if they can’t do that, I am pretty worried they won’t have a plan B draft strategy to fall back on.

There is a good thread on the main boards from a Habs fan trying to see the value of their mid 1st picks to a higher 1st. It’s pretty obvious staying pat is the way to go here if you know you’re stuff.

It’s easy to calculate the Flyers actions. Simply take the stupidest outcome you can imagine and then multiply that by infinity.

I believe that only counts if you moved up in the lottery (which Chicago did in 2023). If you finish at the bottom and still win the lottery, it doesn't count against you

There seems to be pretty small tiers this upcoming draft, hence the difficulty to trade up unless you overpay...Flyers just need to get that top 4 pick and stand pat with the other picks, unless they are moving them for similar picks in the 2026 draft which is suppose to be stronger.

Tier 1 - 2 players
Tier 2 - 3 players
Tier 3 - 3-4 players
Tier 4 - 10 players

Speaking of trading picks, if the Flyers have the fourth or fifth pick, would anyone here trade all three firsts for Michael Misa? Would that get it done?
