Official 2025 NHL DRAFT Thread

Deal all these extra picks for Hagens or Misa if you can get a team to accept.

That’s the talent level they need, and they sure as shit aren’t finding that when it’s put into the hands of their scouting department to comb through lesser players.

Briere has done jack shit so far.

We are 1-1 in our final 17 games. I hope we do bad enough to end at 7. Pittsburgh will probably be one pick ahead of us. Convince them, they don’t need a C. If we take a Swedish Lw/Rw as bpa, then I guess C with Colorado pick. I’m sure Brieres phone is gonna be busy, trying to find us an NHL ready C

I really hope we get a top 2 from the lottery. Misa and Schafer are the two players that I would take in that situation. The Flyers really need a top center, and I think Misa is the perfect fit. Schafer is a true number one defenseman and the Flyers need that too, but the need the center more. They can draft a PP 1 defenseman later and get by without a true number 1, but Michkov really needs a yin to his yang. I think Schafer and Misa are a whole tier above Hagens, who is terrific, but can’t be the complete center Misa is and can be. His size and reliance on passing give me pause. McQueen scares me after this lost year. Desnoyers I believe can be a true number one C, and I have no problem with the Flyers picking him if Schafer and Misa are gone. He is more of a sure thing than Hagens, although Hagens may have a higher upside.
At this point, O’Brien and Frondel are fall back players. If they pick 7-9 either player would be a good choice and I could see Frondell at 5.

I'd give for the top three, but I doubt it happens. If that's the case, I'm fine at 7 or 8. The Flyers are in a good spot to get a good player. Players also rise and fall, so it'll be interesting to see what happens from the combine. I'm also thinking some teams in the top 10 need defensemen in the worst kind of easy, so it won't surprise me if we see Jackson Smith and Radim Mrtka get in there. I'm also thinking that Frondell probably goes in the top 3 with his second half performance with Djurgardens. So, that should leave O'Brien and Desnoyers and someone else, which is probably McQueen.

I'm hopeful that the Flyers come out with two centers in the first. I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that they'll take a defenseman, but I wouldn't be upset if they took a left winger (Reshney or Murtagh).

Same organization spent last summer trying to sell publicly this was a great draft.

I don’t disagree necessarily with what he says. The unknown is probably the best thing you have going in drafts & these things generally work itself out to yielding about the same success rate. The differences aren’t crater sized.

Came here to talk about this.

Brutal. Says no 1C in this draft and the talent level isn't that great (basically).

Since he is head WHL guy hopefully that means they dont rate McQueen aha.

I do get what he is saying.

But the draft is probably guaranteed to produce ~2x 1C level guys, not McDavid, Mathews, MacKinnon ofc... more like Aho, Eichel, Point level.

Almost every draft produces at least 1x 1C, and with Misa, Hagens and Frondell who have a profile of ~70%+ likely to be a 1C...

and then Bear, Desnoyers, McQueen, O'Brien, Ryabkin and Martin between them? Probably a 50% chance that group ends up with 1x 1C as well.
