Going back to 2005, almost every draft post lock-out has produced a 1C... even if being SUPER harsh with what a 1C is and eliminating everyone who just had like 2-3 years as one (Thompson, Couturier, O'Reilly, Trocheck, Duchene, Barzal, Kyrou, Strome, Hischier, Suzuki, etc):
2005: Crosby, Kopitar
2006: Giroux, Backstrom, Toews
2007: N/A
2008: Stamkos
2009: Tavares
2010: Seguin
2011: Scheifele, Zibanejad, Miller
2012: N/A
2013: MacKinnon, Barkov
2014: Draisaitl, Point, Larkin
2015: McDavid, Aho, Eichel, Hintz
2016: Mathews
2017: Pettersson, Thomas
2018: N/A
2019: Hughes
3 drafts in 15 years where there was no-one who developed into an out and out 1C.
And in terms of 2016-2019 a few guys in those drafts are looking like adding to that list.
So you get around 1.5 1Cs per draft... and this draft actually has more C's who have a profile of "likely to be 75+ point Cs in NHL" than an average draft actually. Even though the draft itself is just "whatever".
