I find that usually when people talk about a draft being "deep," they mean the top 10-15 players.
Rarely do people do a deep div and analyze the quality from 25-50, which to me defines a "deep" draft - are there real prospects available in the late 1st and 2nd rounds?

Wheeler released his new top 64. 14 centers in the top 36!

His tier 3 is also 7-14. Hopefully Avs finish out of the playoffs

Maybe things will finally go right for the Flyers and after next season’s draft we’ll have Hagens-McKenna-Luchanko down the middle lol

I know we direly need centers and defense but if Flyers aren’t picking #1 (and maybe #2) and Malone is there, they gotta take him

It is so difficult to win without top centers. Since the lockout maybe two of the SC winners didnt have at least an elite center and I think one of them was Anaheim that had Pronger and Niedermeyer. I would draft the the best available centers with the first two picks. We have plenty of wingers. Just look at our organizational centers. Couts, Frost, jag, jag, Luchenko, nobody. Couts scored in ONE game in his last 40 something and Frost is 25 and maybe can improve but has ZERO goals this year.

I think if their rankings are close they have to heavily lean towards defense and centers, especially with the slew of later 1st and 2nd round picks but Malone and Misa seem to be on another level for draftees after Hagens and I’m not sure Misa is going to be a center. I’d hate to draft a low end 1C when the next Matt Tkachuk is on the board and the consensus pick. The Flyers need a major injection of high end talent so I think they still gotta draft BPA. I don’t see this ship getting fixed by next year so they’ll probably have another good lottery pick. The barrenness of the center prospect pool means the NHL club probably won’t get help at the top 6 C position for 3-5 years (if Luchanko is a homerun), unless we get Hagens somehow. We can easily be a bottom feeder for that whole time

Misa is playing center right now and looks like the real deal. His size is good for a center too. he is not small like Hagens is. Hagens will probably play center to though. He is very good.

I’d be thrilled with any of the Hagens, Martone, Misa trio

I can only dream of the Flyers getting Hagens and then somehow trading up to get Ryabkin. Imagine having both of them as your 1C and 2C moving forward. And then the Flyers draft McKenna the following year.

A nice caveat though with the Oilers pick is that if the Oilers trade their 2026 1st the pick we have loses its protection (as initially if it is a top 12 pick then Flyers get 2026 pick).

So if somehow the Oilers are on the cusp and want to add some bigger name rentals to ensure get in? Then Flyers get this years whatever.
Not that you don't know this but this is pretty much a self-defeating scenario: Edmonton would be unlikely to trade their 2026 1st if they are bottom 12.

Luchanko as the 4th center and that team would significantly better, then we'd need some left wingers as well, very short on those lol although I'm very sure Alex bump will be a decent player for us in the somewhat near future
