If the flyers pick Ihnat Pazii with any pick all sins will be forgiven on my end and I will drink the cool-aid

I’m so excited. I’m so scared.

We do have three first rounders to fritter away. Yay.
I’d have to give a f*** to be excited or scared. At this point, I’m just reveling in pure indifference. The team has blown chunks for 12 years and counting. Maybe when Clarke finally drops dead, Jonesy chokes on a chicken bone and Comcast decides to get out of the sports business and sells the team I’ll start caring again.

Five years away from being five years away, they need to hoist that up on a banner.

Apathy is a wonderful coping mechanism. Gonna try me some of that.

With all the ammo in the 2025 draft it should either be bundled in some way for move-ups, or even for a trade for a young center with high potential if they’re available

Yep, I have a feeling those picks are assets in trading for established young players.

Kaprisov is one that comes to mind, will be on the last year of his deal. Maybe he doesn’t want to reup with them? No idea who will actually be available but in the same manner the UHC acquired Sergachev the flyers need to be in one of those type of deals.

I mean, the C crop is INSANE no doubt a year out. Though some of that 2nd group will end up wingers.

But there are ~15-18 Cs right now who a year out look like 1st round picks.

If they DONT get a 1C with their aggressive "get so many top 45 picks in 2025" strategy. They will have a problem that is for sure.

Are there any current standouts in terms of a potential 1D?

Boumedienne is great. Him and Hensler are probably the top 2 right now.

Trethewey is also right up there.

Radivojevic, Sjöström and Kotajärvi are up there... BUT are all 5'10 so yeh... might be that all are going after 20 ahaha.

Then Aitcheson, Huang, Hamilton, Schaefer, Annborn and Mrtka seem roughly on track for 1st round.

Hallin has a lot of skill but he is 5'8.

Hilariously almost all the best Dmen are under 6'2. Boumedienne, Hensler and Mrtka are the only ones 6'2 and up.

Luchanko is close to 190. He. Could max out, just under 200. He’s not small.
There are guys listed in 140s-150 lb range. There are some small guys in 25 draft.
We are gonna pick between 1-15, it’s a guarantee to find a Center first half round 1 in 25 draft.

Tbf a lot of guys from 2024 were listed at 140-150lbs when they were 16. Just how it is. When you are ~16-19 as a "pro" athlete you are often gaining like 15-20lbs a year... with a lot of guys underlisted too at the weight they joined CHL etc at a year before that.

But the D especially for 2025 is small. That is for sure. If the size queen attitude the NHL took collectively in 2024 continues? I think that some of the very talented ~5'10-6'0 D will fall to ~20-30, especially given the C class and how obsessed NHL teams are with C over every other position.

It could actually be a real chance to get a guy with a 1D trajectory late in the 1st round as a result. Which is kind of rare, though it does happen. (though for example in the 2024 draft that had a great D crop I think the last player taken who had even a ~20% chance to be 1D was... well... Buium at #12)

2015 kind of had that happen with Dunn and Andersson (5'11 and 6'0 at draft) falling into the 2nd because of the strong C group and teams over-rating quite a few of the bigger Dmen, (Juulsen, Larsson, Carlsson) who were not as good at same level as Dunn and Andersson... albeit at the time you would probably have said that Dunn and Andersson were say #2-3 upside kind of guys if a fan. But still...

I doubt quite as big a fall happens to say Radivojevic and Sjöström... depending ofc how they develop in the next year... but it would not be a shock if one was there for one of the Flyers picks in the 20s. Especially as they are small AND Euros.

Now, will the Flyers pass on those smaller Dmen like did with Buium? Who knows. But I can see it playing out that 2 of the best ~4-5 Dmen in the 2025 draft are there at say 20-25.

Can't wait for Hagens to move to the same agent as Cutter and Buium before the Flyers choose 1st overall...

Flyers have all the choices in the world for center and probably pick the wrong ones.
