    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

According to Craig from last year in May 2024, "Moroz is still under contract for another year in his hometown (he’s Belarusian), and the Coyotes are perfectly content to let him develop in his situation where he will likely have even more opportunity than he has this season." I assume that means to contract is up at the end of this season.

Current contract runs through 2026 season in the K.

Tear down, no, he took an extra 18-24 months to really start it, we are seeing that drawn out process now. As for building a team and scouting staff, next year better have more progress and results, for that to be determined as a success.
BA stated next year he expects the team to be in the playoffs. Signals AT and team what is expected next year. Most every year teams experience 3-5 player changes, and Utah is no different. I expect BA will be dipping into the FA market, and also there will be a trade or two for sure.

Disappointed in this season, no President Cup. 1st year Utah is showing some Coyote Blues! Expecting better results next season.

Don't see any centers in this year's off-season's UFAs that fits what UTAH is looking for. A couple of RFAs to keep an eye on how their negotiations go (I can see Connor Geekie's brother being a good dependable fit, 1 year from qualifying as a UFA, and having a break out season while missing the playoffs still hasn't signed...), but expecting UtHC to make a hockey trade (¿at the draft) to acquire a center.

As for UFAs, would like them to sign Provorov, even if there is no need at the moment (¿who knows what will transpire at the draft) other than filling a roster spot and being better than a depth player.

Guess this is where I remind someone the current majority of posters in this forum are/were part of that so-called "garbage fanbase."
No reminder necessary, as you well know. Your only reminder should be that I know the fanbase better than (apparently) anyone else posting, see responses above as evidence.

I don’t use HF as a measuring stick.

That’s your first mistake.

Second is putting yourself on a pedestal because of that first one.

And while I know you aren’t going to change your mind about that, this is still a forum for Utah now.

I never have and never will use HF as a measuring stick. HF is too small a sample size and to use it would be ludicrous. I use 18 years as a sth for the Coyotes and a previous decade in the 1980's as a Phx Suns sth, along with being a Cardinal and Diamondback sth from their inception, until 2007 for Dbacks and 2022 for Cardinals. I have seen what's what, maintained sth status for much of the above even when I wasn't a current valley resident and stand firmly by my assessment of the "fan"base.

I also understand this is a Utah forum now. I noticed some whining about the amount of Redwing fans in their arena the other night. They would be wise to consider that type of attendance against the majority of the league's opponents (as was and too often still is the case in Az., Suns finally being excluded) and do everything within their means to not allow it, because that my friend is the makings of a garbage fanbase.

Forgot to mention something.... I don't judge fan bases by the sizes of their wallets either.

That said.... IT is possible to simply ignore the noise about what people whine about.

I HATE how BA never talk about Keller, Smaltzy, Serg ect.. only about kids down the road. BA is happy with our play and not making the playoffs...

We played like crap so many times this year and I don't think Bear systems are developing

Money isn't the issue in the valley, plenty of money here.

As for the noise, I'm not in the least concerned one way, or the other. The only reason I brought it up was because you insisted (as always) in chiming in with one of your mini power trips, then proceeded to tell me how I was thinking (using hf as a measuring stick) and then finally telling me I "put myself on a pedestal". You were wrong on both counts, so I wanted to make it clear as to where I am coming from and why I hold the position that I do.

LOL...... believe me..... if I was on a "power trip" we wouldn't be having this conversation right now.

It's called "the long game".

BA isn't just looking to make the playoffs..... he's looking to make the playoffs annually for many years.

Agreed but we could do that now! Look at so many great young players that were traded this year in the NHL. Frick at this rate the world will end before we make the playoffs

As a fan I think that's the hard part..... the wait. Especially with the past history.

God help Sabres fans..... can't even imagine what they're getting put through.

I heard both Cozens and Powers were on the trade block. So much great talent has left because they are sick of losing. Long game is great in theory buts it's not the fans who feel the pain it's the poor players. No NHL player enjoyed losing or learning lessons from Lossing... All you do is learn to be a loser. That's the long game.

We wait to long our great players will want out.

It's a valid point.... but given where they were a year ago and how they're being treated by ownership now, I'd think they get at least another year or even two.

MY biggest concern is with Tucson. I don't get real good vibes about the feelings between the two ownership groups. At least Utah is paying for most if not all of the coaching staff there so there's consistency on how their contract players are being developed.

What kind of contract do we think Schmaltz is going to get either this summer on an extension or next summer as a UFA?

Since the COVID shortened season he's had;
21-22 59 points in 63 games
22-23 58 points in 63 games
23-24 61 points in 79 games
24-25 57 points in 71 games (so far...)

I know there are lots of young guys that are on the way but it would seem silly to move off of Schmaltz at this juncture. I'm sure he'll be looking for a raise from his previous contract (7 years, 40.95 million, 5.85 AAV) but when does Utah walk away from his contract demands? 7.5 million?

It's actually kind of almost that bad, I'd say... we didn't exactly look like we were going to make the playoffs in 2019-20, but the season getting cut short due to COVID enabled us to get into the qualifying round as the #11 seed, where we upset Nashville only to get absolutely blasted by Colorado in the "proper" first round (of sixteen). If there had hypothetically been no pandemic, allowing that season to play out normally, we'd have missed the playoffs. That would put our playoff drought at 12 years unless we pull a miracle out of our asses this year. Buffalo's going to be at 13 after this year. The blow is slightly lessened because we made the conference finals in 2012, I guess. You have to go back to 2007 for Buffalo's last playoff series win, where they also made the conference finals (for the second year in a row for them).

It takes two to tangle. Who did Utah have in a trade for Cozens? Powers went nowhere, so was he not available, or was the ask too high for the GM's. You are living in fantasyland. Since Chych, I haven't hears of any of Utah's "great players" want out.

Schmaltz is interesting. I think he is starting to slide in play, and of course he will be 30 at the end of his contract. He will be looking for a long term deal, not sure if Utah will want to do that.

It's good that Keller and Guenther are locked in around $7.15 million, those contracts can be used as a hard cap for him. If he wants more than that, show him the door.

Would he accept a shorter term deal? Something like $6/6.5 million for 3 years?

I think if Schmaltz is willing to go short and the kids (But, Ignla, Doan) need more time then you sign him.

Guenther is ready for the minutes is just who plays the second line then.

Why would Schmaltz want a short term deal. I think he wants long term for as much as he can get. He will be 30 yrs. old when his deal is done.
