Vancouver bought him out. So it may have freed the retention slot up again even though we still get the cap hit.

May need @mouser to come in and sort that one out.
I remember the insiders specifically stating that we get hit with the retention slot for the 8 years. Pretty sure it was Seravalli who said he asked that question, and that was the answer he got.

My recollection is the retention slot was supposed to be locked up throughout the buyout term.

Maybe something changed between the NHL and PA, since the buyout, or Puckpedia has it wrong.

Sure is different than from a year ago.

Currently:
11 forwards, 6 defense, and 2 goalies under contract for next season.
Add:
Simashev & But (2 ELCs).
McBain (RFA)
Leaving 1 open spot (Lamoureux?).
...trade expectations @ the draft?

I expect Bill to continue hunting for a big, young, top 6 C.

He'll be willing to pay a steep price if or when one hits the market. I'd love to know how he sees Cozens and whether he made a competitive offer for him.

After reading the news about Ingram and thinking about what it might mean for both our NHL and AHL roster the rest of the way, I went to the Roadrunners website to see who we might consider calling up instead of having to deny Tucson the play of Stauber for their, only to see that he wasn't listed on the roster anymore. That must mean we've already called him up.

Yeah, it was posted earlier this morning. Stauber partook in practice this morning already.

I think perfect fit would be Vilardi (he's RFA, so that would have to be a trade, cuz the Peg has money enough to match an offer), but since that is moot point, I'd go with Duchene, Granlund, Tavares in that order.

$7m/$7m or you pay Tavares $8M to come to Utah

I truly believe that it should be BA but at least Bear needs to go. This team has no system and our young players are getting hurt and forming bad habits. Other words we still have that loser stink just a different jersey.. or buy the dream we will make the play offs in 4 years

I will leave my opinion until years end, but as of today I don't agree with what you are saying.
