I like the Idea if going big in FA but not sure I like the age of those two on a huge and long contract.

I guess Rantanen and Marner are corner cases, both are around the age of Schmaltz and only one or two years older than Keller, but still signing them would lock them in up to their age 35 season, if they sign a max term deal - you never know

Let's see how we end up this year before we give out high fives or pitch forks. I, as a fan, expected Utah to be in the playoffs this year. I might be a year early on that prediction. If the season ended today Utah would have 83pts. The last wild card would have 92pts. I don't think 83pts. is a real good jump, but maybe on a team like Utah where talent is still lacking, and the injuries they have had, maybe, just maybe us fans should be happy. Utah just can't get that consistency to go on that winning streak.


The effort is there, not the results. Time will tell.

This team is improving year over year, and one way to see that is based on their goal differential. Sitting at a -9, which is better than Calgary and Vancouver's.

All in all I think the coaching staff has done a good job with our young players, which is exactly what we want. The only young guy who has regressed is Maccelli.

When BA took over, I guarantee you the projection wasn't 6 years before we make the playoffs. 83 point pace now, we need 15 more next year to get in, thats a pretty big improvement, it might be year 7 until we make the playoffs.

I hope the team catches fire and makes it in this season but I doubt that happens, 20% chance right now, those are long odds. There is no objective way to say things are going great with the rebuild, its taking too long and we are far from the playoffs in year 5. Maybe BA/Bear aren't the guys to run this and take the next steps, verdict is mixed at this point.
