Official 2024 2025 Fire Bowman Thread

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server

The only miss was not getting a goalie.

He added a top 4 D, top 9 F and a depth forward.

At some point the forwards paid to be top 6 players like RNH and Hyman need to show up

Holloway is gonna crack 60 points this year. Tell me how bad our talent evaluation is including Jeff Jackson, Scotty Bowman, and all our pro scouts and player development team in letting him walk.

These guys are supposed to be the professionals and not let talent like that leave on offer sheets.

Jeff Jackson and Scotty Bowman should both be fired just for that alone and same with every pro scout we have and everybody in our player development that didn’t speak up and say you can’t let him go for 2 1/2 million bucks on the offer sheet .

We won the Hyman free agent signing, but it’s more than offset by losing Holloway and losing the Jack Campbell free agent lottery

Oh yeah, let's not forget that he's just a shit human being too.
Every time I see you ‘evaluating’ the humanity of others, I feel compelled to remind the board that you are a person, a human if you will, who threatened to punch and spit on people during a f***ing pandemic. And you did it multiple times. So yeah, no one cares what you think of Bowman.

I’m sure Broberg and Holloway had those offer sheets in hand long before Bowman was hired. Not trading them earlier was on Holland and Jackson

Holland should have signed Holloway mid season but Broberg wanted out and asked for a trade mid season - and I don’t blame him given how Holland completely mismanaged him.

That said Bowman was the guy when the offer sheets hit and let Holloway walk. Every talent evaluator on the Oilers from Bowman and Jackson on down need to be deep sixed for letting him go.

IF I am reading the comments correctly, the locks to Holland's office were changed shortly after the deadline last year and other people were making decisions. Broberg should have been traded at the draft

If, or rather when, this team fails to win a Stanley Cup, can him.

Honestly I'm not sure they should even wait. There was no reason to hire him from the beginning. The guy sucks ass, we were told he sucks ass, and now we're experiencing firsthand that he sucks ass.

💯. Bowman is an absolute sieve.

Not matching Holloway
Not finding a goaltender
Scraping by on waiver fodder
Not freeing up cap
The list just keeps going man

The guy is fn terrible at this GM thing. 😂

"If we matched Holloway... we wouldnt be able to field the team we have today "

We were at the top of the Division and 3rd in the league pre- 4 Nations and were the best team in the league for like 2 months prior to that…with these same players
Maybe you think it was a fluke but sample size tells you different
Only Draisaitl and Knoblauchs system saved us from missing the playoffs. This is a terrible constructed team. Filled with waiver castoffs and ancient relics

I can’t honestly point the finger at Bowman just yet. The worst moves weren’t his and he does have a built in excuse with cap restraints. Maybe he has a plan but he needs the off season.

If he actually is a dipshit that sucks for us because he’s going to get more time.

I think he’s going to need to retool a little bit, that’s a tough job for any GM but he’ll have had plenty of time to evaluate.
Buddy. Did you see what hes done with this roster ? Did you not watch his interviews ? Hes a dead man walking. The guy still believes his moves have improved this roster. Hes justifying the Dylan Holloway move. Like we somehow got better by not matching 2 million ! He vouched for Emberson being a mainstay in our top 4 in August ! Wtf kind of GM is that ? You want to give that guy the absolute last make it or break it year for McDavid ?

Cmon man. Wake up 😆

Virtually every player that BowJack has brought in has sucked. Walman at least is half decent but I don't know if he'll ever be better than that.

Seeing Holloway, Broberg, Foegele, and McLeod succeed elsewhere only strengthens the narrative that they f***ed up this hire something fierce. They failed to fill any holes during the course of the offseason up to the trade deadline and are now poised to start a first round series on the road for the first time in the McDavid era.

And until he signs on the dotted line, there's zero guarantee McDavid sticks around.

I haven't seen someone destroy an organization in such a short period of time since the orange guy south of the border.
