I’d probably point to his shot as something that has flashed at times if anything even taking out today’s game. He’s had some shots that have challenged goalies or beaten them without actually going in at times.
What impresses me is the quick release on his wrist shot and good accuracy - that will go a long way in the NHL.
This isn't something new, he out shot Foerster who was drafted on the basis of his shooting skills last summer.
Gauthier’s shooting ability came as advertised. He has a cannon of a shot and a quick release as well. To my eyes, his wrister appeared more dangerous at this point than his one-timer, but that wasn’t too shabby, either. On the whole, I was actually more impressed with the quality of Gauthier’s shot than that of Tyson Foerster, and that’s not a slight against the Flyers’ 2020 first-round pick. Gauthier’s shot just looked even heavier and more overpowering, a promising sign.
Here's what Charlie O'Connor learned about the Flyers' top prospects after watching four on-ice days at development camp.
