Official 2023 Anti-Leafs Thread

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The leaf fans I know that have been fans for 30+ years wont even talk about winning the series right now because they are so deeply scarred.

This is far more about Leafs fans than the Leafs themselves.

Their skill can take over games but they are rather soft. Mixed bag IMO but you have to respect and admire the skill for sure.

Soft isn't really the case anymore with the additions of O'Reilly, Acciari, Schenn, McCabe and Lafferty (+ Knies). Swapping those guys in for Sandin/Engvall/Liljegren is pretty big.

They should have done it 3 years ago.

I expect them to win tonight and give the Bruins a tough battle.

Even if TBay doesn't win at least Leaf fans watched a other loss, live.

Just speaking to the guys I still skate with that played at a decently high level at some point I'm their lives.

4 of 5 games now Tampa has been the better team. It's strange how often around here so many sens fans like to discount that team. Must just boil down to jealousy.

I just love having Nick Paul only show up to against the Leafs when it matters most - he’s the poster child the last 2 years for showing up when it matters.

Paul is a reminder to all Leafs fans their guys do let show up when it matters the most - keep up the good work Nick

I am absolutely jealous of the Lightning. No hate though, they're a great team and I respect them fully.

Discount that team? The Lightning have been, and still are, awesome. I never said otherwise.
 
I need the Leafs to lose and for TB to push to game 7. If game 7 happens, the Leafs will play on the same date that Disturbed performs in Toronto. I have tickets to that, but don't want to go because work needs me up early the next morning. Having trouble reselling the ticket but if it goes to game 7, I can get a refund or go on a later date.

C'mon leafs, choke in game 6 (and eventually 7) for me!
 
I'm not sure what bothers me more. The Leafs getting over the hump or having to watch the spoiled Bolts fans potentially get more hardware. I think I dislike these two teams equally at this point.

Not sure how anyone can dislike Tampa fans as much as Toronto fans.

Especially when you consider how sad all the talkingheads are when Toronto gets eliminated.

Well it's not the fans themselves, it's that they've been spoiled by success and I'd rather see someone else win. A TB win is about as boring a result as possible imo. I'd stop watching now if I knew that was a certainty. While the Leafs haven't won anything and likely won't even if they move on, so I'm not as concerned.

Cheering hard for Edmonton either way.

I seriously doubt Tampa has enough in the tank to win a Cup this year.

I hear you. That is such ancient history though. It's so long ago that it's not even relevant in my lifetime as an almost 40 year old. I didn't even really witness it as the Penguins championships are the first ones I actually remember paying some attention to.

Most of my rec league team is Oilers fans, so that's probably part of it for me.

Probably not, but they do have that knack of not going away, so I put their chances above TO's even though Toronto is the better team.
