Official 2023 Anti-Leafs Thread

The Leafs hockey is great, they can go as far as O.T. game 7 of the Cup finals as long as they don’t win - that’s my leash with this team this year. They desserve to be rewarded for their play, but not the Cup. Never the Cup. Am still cheering for a round 1 collapse which would be really sweet
 
Biggest issue I have is that if/when Leafs do win round 1, they will almost certainly play Boston.

And I dislike Boston almost as much as the Leafs, so I'm going to have a really tough time knowing who to cheer against in that series.
 
Either way, TB winning it all again would be enough for me to tune out now if I knew that's where it was going. Talk about boooorrrrriiiiinnnnnggggg. Go Oilers.
 
Gonna be honest with you lads, I'll be glad if Toronto breaks their playoff win drought this year because it means there's no chance of it happening to us.

(Still hope Boston destroys them in round 2 tho).

The vocal minority ruin it for the good ones. I know a bunch of great hockey fans that are leaf fans and they dont act like the clowns around here. The media is more annoying than anything. The leaf fans I know that have been fans for 30+ years wont even talk about winning the series right now because they are so deeply scarred.

Frankly that city doesnt deserve it, I hate them just as much as the leafs. Listening to Spitting Chicklets might have something to do with it. RA is so smug. First declared they were going to easily sweep florida showing no respect. Then wanted to pull Ulmark after game 2, who has actually saved them in this series.

We absolutely want the Bruins to win the cup. If they win the cup, there's a decent chance Bergeron and Krejci retire, giving us a better chance of making the playoffs next year.
 
Could have been us if we had better ownership/management/coaching… but Sens fans will have to live with the Habs in Finals then Leafs make it the 2nd round (so their finals) while we golf

So here goes all the « Leafs can’t pass the first round » counter argument when arguing with Leafs fans

The hatred for some is still important enough to have an anti Leafs thread all on its own it seems.

Those battles of Ontario feel like ancient history now. And they kind of are. Almost 20 years from the last loss to them with the infamous Lalime gaffs.
 
Doesn't bother me in the slightest. They have incredible, passionate, loyal fans. And this futility streak can't go on forever. Plus, even if they win a round, the rest of the hockey world will say:

"Took long enough with this core (6 years) and price tag
"Took long enough for the franchise (19 years)
" Wow, one round every 19 years, let's celebrate"
' Still pathetic that is took so long"

No different when Ottawa beats the Leafs, and they will say:

"Great, one series win in 5 tries, wow congrats"

So why bother?
