As an addendum, the one defenseman I would gladly take with our 2nd rounder, if we did take one, is Josh Brook. BPA and fit. I'm high on him; higher than most everyone, I think. That mock had him at the end of the 3rd, which seemed beyond absurd. On this player, Grant McCagg and I are on the same page: he's a 1st round talent. He has no holes in his game, nothing where he is not (well) above average. I think some people might be sleeping on him because he's so well-rounded and mature 2-way and maybe doesn't have that "dynamic" trait, although I think his skating and passing are the standout traits, along with his high IQ. Just looks the part of a future top 4 NHL d-man.
He's 6'2, has tools, is physical and will only bulk up more. He's a RHD, plays a really intelligent aggressive puck possession style with tight gaps and pinches and very crisp passes short and long. So calm and efficient, zero panic, in both ends on/off puck. He is excellent at stopping play in his own end and transitioning play, either with a great pass or using his great wheels. Summer birthday, has bantam draft pedigree, and just impresses me every game. He's already used as Moose Jaw's #1. Compliments our pool well too because I don't think he will need PP time to be successful. He's a heck of a 2-way ES/PK player. I'm convinced he's one of those guys that people will wonder why he didn't go earlier. I think he's the 4th/5th best d-man in this class, and I'm willing to look stupid saying it.
