Some team will roll the dice on him in the top-10. The lure of a skilled, nasty power forward will be too hard for many to resist. Doubt he falls out of that range.

when was the last time Rangers had a nasty power forward. i hope Kreider can be that player in the future. i love the way he agitates at times and uses his body but with more ice time as he improves hopefully he will get better at doing this on a consistent basis...

the lack of size grit and skill in the whole organization up front is a bit concerning..

The number of top scorers in the league who also throw their weight around are very low. Obviously Bertuzzi was the quintessential one in his prime. Right now, Ovechkin, Backes, and Perry are the best examples.

They are hard to come by.

i disagree with ^.... you also have Hartnell, J.Benn, Simmonds, Lucic, E.Kane, Ladd

they are just hard to come by for the Rangers.... i look across the league

Rangers wish they can have big gritty winger like Hartnell, J.Benn, Simmonds, Lucic, E.Kane, Ladd in their lineup... its a shame Nash has no grit in his game at all.. imagine if Nash had grit and emotion in his game. he would be a much better player..

i was not talking about top scorers just more of a complete player..

Nick Ritchie won't last past Brian Burke and the Flames. There's no way Burkie passes on him if he's still there at Calgary's pick. He won't last past 9th overall, IMO.

Provided we still have our 1st this season, there are some late risers this year that I think may knock some guys down that I previously thought would be unobtainable with our pick.

Honka will be gone by 15, as much as I want to add him. A guy like McCann or Ehlers may be right back in our wheelhouse, though.

It depends. If you mean the last time they had a guy like Lucic, then it was quite some time. If you mean a well-rounded forward with a nastiness to his game, then you don't have to look too far back to find Brandon Dubinsky.

I think people ought to start jumping on the Dylan Larkin band-wagon now so they don't have to wait until we pick in order to do it. Kid has Rangers pick written all over him.

With the ridiculous season he just capped off, I doubt he's available.

Would LOVE him though.

How so? Don't know much about him.

Under the Tortorella regime I would agree. Under AV's regime, I'm not so quick to peg him as the pick. This draft will be very telling of how much weight Gordie Clark holds in deciding who the team picks. A guy like Pastrnak or Ho Sang is someone I can see AV wanting.

So hes a half wit that will develope into a soft muddle 6 winger?

Larkin's scouting report reads exactly like JT Miller. You may have the middle six part right, but he's a hard nosed guy that loves mucking it up. Michigan bound in the fall. He wouldn't be the worst pick, but I'd like to see us just once roll the dice on a highly skilled forward in the first round, and go for two way bottom six guys in the middle rounds.

i know.. Dubinsky was a good player and importantly was a good team guy to have.. teams need guys like this... Rangers will regret the day they dealt him..

Sather should have targeted Evander Kane instead of Nash.. Kane is younger and is better overall player and more of in your face type player.. guy with emotion.. when was the last time Nash showed any type of emotion, even his interviews are so dull. Nash is not a leader at all...

I'd sign him to an ELC. No reason not to.

Agreed

i wont be shocked if Rangers draft Nick Ritchie brother of Brett Ritchie (Stars 2ed round pick)

where is this guy expected to go?? with lack of size and grit, Rangers better take a look at him.. has some bloodlines as well..

He's easily top 10. Will definitely not be around when we pick. He's at steady #9, but will most likely move up a few spots. Depending on who's there, I could see the Flames selecting him. Burke loves those type of players. He could be great and a solid choice for Winnipeg, too.

Exactly my point.

I really want Honka, but I'm sure he'll be taken before we pick. McCann is a reasonable pick, but could also wind up being picked before our selection. Ehlers is an easy top 10 pick now. Highly doubt he'd be where we are. Some guys I can see realistically (besides Honka and McCann) are Milano, Tuch, Larkin, Pastrnak, Kempe. I would be pissed if we pick McKeown, DeAngelo, or Schmaltz.

I think people ought to start jumping on the Dylan Larkin band-wagon now so they don't have to wait until we pick in order to do it. Kid has Rangers pick written all over him.

Larkin is solid, but is a bit week for a power forward at 6'0"/172lbs, per elite prospects. He's a U of Michigan commit though so we'll wait and see. I think we'd pick someone like Milano, Tuch, or Honka.

Rangers should draft Jordan Greenway in the 2015 draft since they need size.. oh wait they dont have a 1st. let's hope he slips to the 2ed.. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=170297&encode=TRUE 21 pts 9 goals in 27 games for a 17 year old is not bad. just turned 17 in feb but is 6'4 190 at the moment..

No way in hell we snag him. He's already considered a top 10 prospect for that draft and we also don't have a 1st (as you already mentioned). He's going to be great, but even if we do end up getting a 1st, it will most likely be a late pick knowing how strong that draft will be. No one will want to trade those picks because of the huge talent in there. No way he falls in the 2nd.

Yeah but so does Alex Tuch.

Either one wouldn't surprise me, still depends on where we pick, right now I'm not so sure where that will be.

Surprised at that.

when was the last time we drafted two kids from the same high school ?

pretty rare i would think.

tuch does fit the prototypical rangers pick. usndp kid. decent upside. solid skill set. big strong kid @ 6'4 @ 215. right handed shot. ferocious shot. i mean he can really rip it.

ive seen alot of this young man and when i see him i see a young john leclaire.

Isn't Tuch a center? Starting to warm up to the idea of picking him.

rw right shot. hes a big dude.

not overly physical. a scoring power forward type kid with decent wheels. his shot is really high end. booming and dangerous from anywhere. hes got so much velocity and can snipe it top shelf with ease.

hes a riser and im thinking gone in the top 20.

He's closer to about 190lbs now. He has the frame to continue to fill out. Great skill with the puck, plays with an edge, and is competent in all three zones. He's also to the go-to face-off man on the team.

Edit: ISS has him at 6' 3/4" and 190lbs.

Greenway's not a top ten player.

McDavid, Eichel, Hanifin, Barzal, Konecny, Kylington (don't like), Zacha, Roy, Connor, and White are easily ahead of him. Not even considering Werenski, Sprong, Marner, Strome, Merkley, Andersson, Crouse have all shown more.
