I would love to add some size, but if this kid is there I would pick him.

http://www.shl.se/blog/5/

He's ranked around late 1st, early 2nd. We are projected to pick around #17 right now. I think there are better options at that spot, like Honka, Tuch, Milano, McCann, Pastrnek, etc. Unless we trade for the other 1st or 2nd, I see him being taken by someone else. He's a good prospect, though.

I hear that Fiala's stock is climbing quickly just like Alexander Wennberg last year.

Tuch will be gone by 15 and as much as I love Honka ,he is small and not physical at all.

Fiala's stock is rising, don't get me wrong, but I don't think he'd move up further than #23.

Tuch will move up as he's projected around mid to late 1st, but he is not going to surpass guys like Barbashev, McCann, Nylander, Ehlers, Virtanen, and such. I'd say he's at the #17 mark if not a little lower. He'll be selected in the 1st, though.

Honka isn't that small. He's 5'11'' and still growing. Not only that, but if you want to talk about a riser, it's him. This was his first year in NA and at the start of the season wasn't even considered a 1st rounder. He's grown on every mock draft and Button's List and he might not even be selected at #17 as he will probably get chosen around the 10-15 mark. He is very defensively sound and has great skating ability. I would say he's a Jared Spurgeon type player with shades of Erik Karlsson. We have a bunch of guys in the system that can be physical if he isn't at all. We have no purely offensive d-men besides Calle Andersson, who might not even get signed by us. He's going to be good, no matter how big he is.

Both Greg and Matt Carey will probably sign today, neither with the Rangers. Bit of a missed opportunity. Disappointing.

Beat writer Mike McMahon has the info on twitter. Sounds like it could be Anaheim, by the clues I've been given. Apparently they may both go to the same team.

Well that's disappointing.

The Minnesota ‪#‎MNWild‬ are the front runners amongst many ‪#‎NHL‬ teams pushing hard to sign top ‪#‎NCAA‬ UFA Greg Carey of St. Lawrence University. HR&T will be releasing our list of the Top 20 College UFAs today, including Carey as our #1 remaining UFA, along with 18 honourable mentions!

Good luck to them though they'll be solid for the team who picks them up.

Does anyone see us picking up one of Trevor Van Riemsdyk, Ahti Oksanen, or Ralfs Freibergs?

Here are there profiles on elite prospects...

I wouldn't be surprised to see them sign some more college UFAs with the lack of picks we have. It's a great way to try and swing for the fences with house money.

But it's hard (almost impossible, really) to predict who we'd even go after.

I like Justin Kea as a potential bottom 6 player. If he was available I'd prob sign him to an ATO with the Pack. Not interested in using an ELC on him.

he cant be worse than using one on a scrub like Kyle Jean who is horrible :shakehead

Fiala or Honka would be the dream. I think we might have to move up to 10-15 if we want him. I see Fiala rising into the top 10, he's a stud. He is so dominant in SHL, I've watched him a lot here in Sweden. So we won't get him.

Honka could become Erik Karlsson light.

I listed 5 names about a month ago and we already signed one of those guys ;)

who are the the top goalie UFA prospects? Rangers need depth as far as goalie prospects with NHL potential... another Talbot signing could help this organization even if it helps fills another need down the road.

Yeah, but it's all random. You don't have any insight into our office and neither do I. It's only logical that our scouting department will try to sign some UFAs. So predicting who we'd go after is more like just saying who you think is the best, you know?

i wont be shocked if Rangers draft Nick Ritchie brother of Brett Ritchie (Stars 2ed round pick)

http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=138947

where is this guy expected to go?? with lack of size and grit, Rangers better take a look at him.. has some bloodlines as well..

Some team will roll the dice on him in the top-10. The lure of a skilled, nasty power forward will be too hard for many to resist. Doubt he falls out of that range.
