Official 2012 Entry Draft Thread

I just checked on his Facebook page and he wrote February 12th. I guess he knows his birthdate so you're right.

His birthdate has been 1993-12-02 on the QMJHL's website since he was drafted and we always thought he was a late. Anyway, it doesn't change his age group in the Q but he's a 2011 NHL draft eligible.

Its the CSR's fault...they listed him as that and it stuck...and no ones changed it...

Campbell is a legit late 93 though.

Ryan Murray (D) from Everett is a pretty good prospect.

I saw him play a couple of times last year and he is an excellent skater and has good puck skills and vision.

For his age he was pretty good defensively as well.

A website where you could look at CHL stats based on first year of NHL draft eligibility would be GREAT. Does such a thing already exist?

is there anywhere that i can find out who the consensus top 5 is, currently.

i know it'll change drastically but who are those hyped up players that are aiming to go high in the draft.

somebody else mentioned the name Ryan Murray. is he going to go very high?

Matt Dumba should be somewhere on the list imop

A little surprised that Damon Severson from Kelowna hasnt made your list. He has arguably been the Rockets best d-man in the first 3 games. He has gone end-to-end more than once, splitting the defense and has been on the Point with the goalie pulled for the extra attacker. He didnt arrive with the same fan-fare here as Schenn, Barrie and Myers did but Kelowna has a keeper with this kid.

You'd have a hard time finding him behind his stick though so he might go undrafted.

He still has 2 full years to full out. And if he can make the Knights as a '94 birthdate this kid obviously has some talent and will fill out over the next 2 years. Unlikely he's going to go undrafted.

Scoutman provided a pretty accurate consensus to start. The Sarnia Sting twitter the other day released a quote saying "New ISS rankings have Yakupov ranked at #2 and Galchenyuk at #5 for the 2012 NHL draft.

Wow, I just realized that 2009 15th overall pick in the WHL draft Evan Richardson is in my PE class.

:yo:

anybody seen him play with the Victoria Grizzlies or know a little about him?

Nail Yakupov with a 4 point night tonight. Brings his totals to 4G 6A in 5 games so far. Galchenyuk with another goal and assist tonight bring his totals to 5G 4A in 5 games so far. 3 sting players are now leading the league in scoring.

Highly recommend when Sarnia comes to your town to go watch this team. These guys are well worth the price of admission.

They look pretty good, but I won't have a chance to go see them.
:(

Loving the play of Brendan Gaunce this year. Mix of size and scoring ability and has been a treat for the Bulls this year. Hopefully he'll keep it up and go top-10 in the draft :)

He can dish it and put it in the mesh.

#16 in these videos..works the PP point beautifully.

He had 4 assists in that game..check out 6:40 for a pretty slick play.

5:05 for his first ever goal.

Is he related to Brendan Gaunce?

From Halifax Mooseheads - other than Ciampini

Simon Desmarais -read that he is showing very well now.
Andrew Ryan

Simon Desmarais has been playing unreal. I have no idea where he was on the 2012 Draft radar before this season, but he should be getting noticed soon. He's come in and only been scratched once this season. He was getting double shifted in OT in a game last week. So much poise and composure for a 16 yr old.

He only had 4 pts all last yr in AAA (all assists) and so far this year he has 1G 2A in 10 games. He's not an offensive defencemen, but he's shown he can add that element to his game. Solid 2 way guy. Glad we have him!
