Ya, the guy who is the reason for the Oilers current shitty cap situation would guide us through this situation. Not like he has a history of sewering teams caps and moving young players/prospects out for nothing.

Was more so from a mutual respect level among GMs in the league. The guy has been in the league for nearly 30 years and has certainly developed a lot of relationships. This comes into play.

Certainly not ideal, I get it from the Blues, watching the Cup run does make it clear both are NHLL regulars who might have even more to give than they showed.

Stan's first f*** up, he needs to fix this as soon as possible.

Fair enough. But if it wasn't for his awful cap management, the oilers wouldn't even be in this situation.

His first f***up is not signing his players to 200% their value before they get offersheeted?
Hey man, they have 2 important RFAs, they have bodies and cap space they need to create, no it's better to just "sit and wait" to see what happens. What Stan need a "rest" from all the work he was just coming off of?

Both these players are classic Oilers picks of physical ability far exceeding brains. Broberg still got eaten up in playoffs. That nurse pair was just lucky for a tiny sample size. Broberg was probably only worth a 2nd until that run of luck.

I'd much rather see the money we would use to match be used to actually fix the D and get Nurse a proper babysitter.

I’m betting the agents for Broberg and Holloway were not signing lowball offers and were just waiting to see if an offer sheet would transpire.

Oilers management didn't handle these players abnormally at all. RFAs that teams are squeezing go unsigned into training camp all the time on most teams across the NHL.

Offersheets are rare because the contracts are always stupid. Broberg is now being paid a middle pairing salary when in his draft year+5 he hasn't even proven he belongs in the NHL as a regular player.

Stan’s? He’s been here 5 minutes
Jeff Jackson had months to get this done
What is Stan's job? To like observe and report, to do spreadsheets.

It's clear these guys were needing deals, it's clear there are bodies that need to be moved out. Why does this f***er deserve the benefit of the doubt getting gifted a prime job he utterly doesn't deserve.

Get to f***ing work, this is his first of probably many f*** ups. Also where's the "basically" done Draisaitl contract? Get the f*** on it Stan.

I feel like you kind of have to match both. Kane goes on LTIR like rumoured, and you’re fine, but he either needs to spend the whole year recovering, or you have to hope someone goes down

This may even impact the Drai contract as his side may be looking at this as a negative for the teams competitiveness. We effed around on these two guys for way too long and now here we are.
