What is nice is that you don't really need 90 point guys to win the Cup. It's all about depth. If you look at all the championship teams in the Cap Era, just about all of them had 7 or 8 40 point guys. Pittsburgh and LA were the only exceptions. Pittsburgh was very top-heavy. LA won off the back of goaltending and a revamped roster post-trading deadline.

The past three seasons, the Rangers have had 5 per team (pro-rating 2013).

Nash 44 37 81
Stepan 20 38 58
Callahan 19 22 41
Richards 15 35 50
Brassard 14 22 36
Hagelin 13 21 34
Del Zotto 15 38 53
McDonagh 8 30 38
Kreider 20 15 35
Zuccarello 10 25 35
Girardi 6 20 26
Pouliot 11 20 31
Moore 8 12 20
Stralman 6 10 16
Pyatt 6 10 16
Moore 4 10 14
Boyle 8 12 20 ------My wild card guess
Dorsett 4 8 12
Falk 2 7 9
Johnson 2 5 7

The kind of people? Yeah, unbiased spectators for the most part giving an honest thought on the team. For sure the main boards can get quite irrational at times, but I was simply curious on what the majority of posters thought on the Rangers forward corps and for the most part, I believe most voted around 15th-20th.

they were 15th last year and the poll thinks that they will regress this year coming?

An improved PP alone will have them better than 15.

get back to the 09-10 conversion rate of 18% and we are easily a top 10 team scoring.

Gaborik - Prospal - Dubinsky - Callahan - Del Zotto

are better than

Nash - Stepan - Richards - Callahan - Del Zotto

Nash = Gaborik
Richards = Prospal
Stepan better than Dubi
Callahan better today than he was 4 years ago
Del Zotto is also better than 4 years ago.

The Rangers will not regress in scoring this year.

The Rangers should easily be in the top 7 teams offensively this year. It was disgusting how much Torts held this team back offensively. His system was completely incompetent. He essentially had the team playing the PK all game.

Well, we'll see if that argument stands up. I think theres some validity to it but not as much as people think. I dont think its like taking the chains off a lion or anything

this team could really use gaborik on it. hes exactly what we are lacking right now.

wish we had even one guy who could snipe it like him

I see a lot of prediction giving Callahan and Hagelin scoring on a par with playing a full season or just slightly discounting based on losing around 10 games due to IR post offseason surgeries. I'm actually concern that both will struggle to put up points (particularly goals) which would be typical for players coming of shoulder injuries. I hope I'm wrong but it's likely Cally and Hags are going to struggle to score more than 16 and 12 goals, respectively.

Bumping for a fun look at expectations vs. reality.

Zuccarello, McDonagh, and Pouliot destroyed my expectations. Almost right on the mark with Richards. Our leading scorer has 57 points :(

Nash is a lock for 30+ goals and Callahan will most likely pot 20+ if healthy. After that, it's really anyone's guess.

I'd like to see Richards score at least 20 goals but who knows with him. I think Stepan is a likely candidate for 20 goals. Maybe Brassard and Hagelin flirt with 20 goals, I think they could come close.

I wouldn't be surprised if this team scored 210 goals nor would I be surprised if they scored around 240, lots of uncertainty.

I tend to be on the conservative side so I came close.

Prorated to 82 games, Nash would have had 33 goals, and Hags and Callahan would have had 20 goals if healthy. Richards and Brassard are both close to 20 goals with 18 apiece. I was wrong about Stepan, he probably won't hit 20 goals.

Unfortunately, this team is a lot closer to scoring 210 goals than 240 goals. Yet again the need for more finishers is apparent.

Del Zotto between 40 and 55 points on just about every chart. This has been a **** year for him. Traded and probably won't put up even 20 points. To qualify him Nashville's going to have to give him about $3 mil per cap hit. Nashville's not a good fit either.

Man, I had a lot of hope for DZ this season, brutally wrong on him.

I'm really not surprised Zucc scored as much as he did.

Nash and Stepan did not meet my expectations, clearly.

Pleasantly surprised with Kreider and Pouliot.

I find it really wierd that we dont have a single player above 60 points and will make the playoffs. Zucc could get there with 2 points in the next two games. 216 total goals for seems pretty middle of the road for the NHL (in fact we're tied with the islanders). We have 9 players with more than 30 points, 10 with calla-louis.

Other than Zuccarello and maybe Pouliot, it's like every forward on the team had a down year offensively or at least went through long slumps.

Yet we got through to where we are based on a strong defense and goaltending.

Kinda makes you feel good for next year. Nash and St. Louis should have better years. Stepan should continue to get better. Kreider could make a leap. Guys like Miller and Fast may make the club and be upgrades. And if you replace Richards with a better center... wow, could be good things for our offense.

Nash missing ~20 games didn't help
