Who's grumpier: The lady who used to sit behind the Flames bench, or the lady who always stands behind Premier Ford in his speeches? Someone's gotta put them side by side....

Laundry day was easy as f***.

The commute from my kitchen to my office is a killer though. Dog walked in front of me damn near spilled my Cheerios

And the co-workers. I freaking don't have anything I want to say right now that I wouldn't say to their faces. It's going to be hard going back to how things were before! I don't know if I will survive to see the day where things are back to how they were before...

3 weeks since office was officially closed, but I've been working from home for 5 weeks now (4 days at the office during the first two weeks, 100% at home since). I guess. I've kinda lost the track of time. I went to supermarket today, last time before that was Sunday, other than that it's been 100% self-isolation for me.

Overall I still feel pessimistic about this all, but slightly positive when it comes to Finland. Tight restrictions to make people stay inside might have worked in slowing down the spread, but of course we might just be couple of weeks behind other European countries.

All restaurants and bars will be closed for two months, starting tomorrow, but they are allowed to sell take-away. All schools will also most likely be closed until summer as of now

Best thing so far: Finnish National Broadcasting Company (YLE) started showing daily NHL results from 10 years ago daily on their teletext. Waking up every morning to see the latest NHL scores from teletext was (and has been) my tradition for almost 30 years now. 30 years ago it was the only source, and nowadays its still simple and fast, even though I'm using Android teletext app now.

BTW, Kipper was on fire 10 years ago

Today was the first day that I felt semi depressed because of all of this. Couldn’t go home for Easter. Supposed to be headed to Kuala Lumpur for work (and golf). Sick of the news. Sick of people and all their bullshit conspiracy theories.

Shouldn’t be though because I’m one of the lucky ones to still be working and have a roof over my head with the bills paid and a fridge full of food and booze.

Hope everyone is making out alright though. Just needed to get it off my chest.

It's gotta be tough for all the single people out there cooped up at home all by themselves. I feel for ya. Its now a sad day when my excitement of the week is a trip to the supermarket. Glad I have my wife and 3 golden retrievers though, to keep me company.

One nice thing though... I live on a cul-de-sac and when the sun is shining (like yesterday) a lot of us go outside with our lawn chairs and set up a big circle in the middle of the cul-de-sac and visit and shoot the breeze and have a few koolaids.

Took the words out of my mouth.

I found out yesterday that I’m getting re-hired at my work as of Monday. It’s at 75% of my normal salary, but I’ll take it. I also found out yesterday that I gained 10lbs, damn you tequila and gin.

I had several hockey dreams last night which brought me back to the rollercoaster we had all season. Seeing Mackboi split the defense to put the avs up 1-0, winning a game 7-5 (and seeing a 1990s score pannel on TV again), and then reading HF rumours that Hammer was due for a longterm contract extension (lmfao at hfboard dreams).

FFS I know coronavirus is destroying the world, but I miss hackey so much.

Nice to hear that you're getting your job back but that sucks about the 25% cut in pay. I know that a year before I got laid off 2 years ago I had to accept a 10% salary cut... and that was after not getting a raise the previous 2 years (nobody to my knowledge got raises) and even a 10% cut sucked.

I wonder how many companies will be taking this opportunity to get rid of senior high paid employees at reduced severance payouts? I used to work in an oil & gas related industry (valve sales) and got laid off with severance (the company was doing everything the could to cut operating expenses) 2 years ago. I bet my severance would be significantly less if I was laid off now instead of then. Fortunately, when I got laid off, I was close to retirement age and they were worried about an age discrimination lawsuit, so the severance was generous.

Truer words haven't been spoken....:cry: there literally is not a worst time to be single. it's impossible to even get a date cuz 1) everything's closed and 2) no one is going to really want to because of the situation. :/
feeling lonely now is so heavily compounded....

The toughest part is giving yourself a haircut, like I just did  I think it turned out okay all things considered haha! I was prepared to shave my whole head if things went bad, but I didn't have to take that route. ... this time.

Nice, man. How long were you out of work for?

@GAMO1992, not trying to get into any politics discussion, but what's peoples' opinions on Ford right now over there? Based on what I've read in the news, people seemed to have a real hate on for him for the longest time, but since this pandemic I get the impression that's no longer the case. Whatever I've been reading has been painting him in a significantly more positive light.

Fat chance I'm "cutting" my own hair.

I'll just pretend it's 1985 again. Did the same thing during my high school years lol.

Posted this a while ago to main boards

I'm 40, and receding hairline and bald spot have been a thing for almost 20 years now. So for the last 15 years or so I have cut my own hair, meaning cutting everything every 2-3 weeks.

Last time I did a full shave was maybe 20 years ago, I've had some kind of beard since then and a full beard for maybe for 10+ years, trimming it every now and then.

Now I have stopped trimming my beard and cutting my hair to go full Joe Thornton style

so I'm doing just fine

I have a steady good paying job, we have a lot of business going on so it's not likely that I would be laid off, and if that somehow happened it would mean everything in Finland has gone down the drain. Still I'm seriously thinking about getting a new job as some things have become almost unbearable with how the upper management works now (not because of Covid), and a new job would mean a 6 month trial period where I could be fired in a day just because.

So the question is, to suffer and hope things get better with almost guaranteed income, or take yet another job and hope things are better there, with uncertainty that things might end in a heartbeat.

I'm also starting to think my expectations are simply too high, and that's why I get this "f*** this shit" feeling in a year or so when the job and company that looked promising turns out to be not so great. Maybe I should just suck it, care less and take the paycheck
