Sounds about right.
I don't watch boxing or MMA much, but from what I've read, no one is expecting it to be a good fight. Some are saying McGregor can win if he can land that one punch; but then others say much better fighters weren't able to land that punch against Mayweather so there's no reason to believe this will be any different.
I've also seen the gambling lines; if there was any shot of McGregor winning, now is the time to bet!
I'm a huge MMA and boxing fan, and realistically there is no way McGregor wins this fight aside from a lucky (and it would have to be the luckiest punch of all time) punch. The only possible advantage McGregor has over the boxers who have tried and lost to Mayweather is something his coach brought up. Kavanagh said that they're approaching it from an MMA perspective rather than a boxing one, because all the boxers have done essentially the same thing and lost.
So maybe there's a slight chance that a different approach, different angles, and different footwork to set and throw a punch/counter a punch will at least initially throw Floyd off his game a bit. That's about it though.
The other thing to consider is that while everyone is saying Floyd has a huge skill advantage, McGregor also is used to getting kicked, kneed, and punched with 4 oz gloves, so he's used to taking far harder shots than he'll see in a boxing match with 10 oz gloves. To me, he may lose by cumulative punches via TKO, but he isn't going to actually get knocked out. If anything, it will go to a decision and be a very lopsided one in favor of Floyd. The only shot McG has is a lucky punch or if the ref allows the fight to be borderline dirty and full of rough housing. That would certainly favor McGregor and neutralize some of the skill advantage Floyd has.
I'll give McGregor full props for even considering this since it's not what he does. Sure the money is insane, but he will likely look terrible and be a mockery of the sport. On the flip side, there is literally no boxer in the world that would survive a single round against a top 10 MMA fighter, let alone one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time (since this is essentially what McG is doing). And if Floyd and McGregor were to fight in the octagon, McGregor would cave him in within 2 minutes.
