Anybody ever had Plantar Fasciitis ? I had it years ago and in Dec it came back....so I tried to do what I did before to get it to go away....but it got worse .

I just got home from getting it checked out and XRAYs showed a heal bone spur.

It makes walking painful. Having a high arch isn't a good thing I guess.

*Waves*

Yes I've had plantar fascitis. Ugh. I still stretch my foot every morning, I don't ever want to go through that again.

A bone spur sounds even more painful. What can be done for it?

SO I just accepted the offer for my new contract. I'll be going to Maine for a little while, which is nice because I won't have to fly. Bad news is I won't get to rack up the miles or car rental days. Good news is, I got a little pay raise and I'll also have some remote time.

Woooooooooooooooot!!!!!!! :yo::handclap::yo::handclap:

Maybe you can look up MaineHockey1 while you're up there

Lonnie, I know you know that getting a house together is step one in LOSING your manhood, assuming you aren't already married, in which case that bridge was already crossed

Sadly, you are all too correct, Joe...

Honey, me and the boys were thinking about going out for dinner. Can I bring mine? Come on. The other guys wives all let them take theirs. Can I? Please? Pretty please???

I was told surgery on the foot is not something they will not do until they try everything else. It is painful. I walk weird and then my back and who leg hurts. Getting old....

I have done the stretching and will wear arch supports. I am leaving Wed for a short trip to Nashville and Memphis with my daughter...she usually walks fast so I let her know that I may be slower than usual.

I am picking up an prescription on my way home from work to help with the swelling . Next step is a shot into the tendon.

It's fairly common I guess.

Anyone ever struggle with wanting constant self improvement? I have been not been around here as much because I have found a new obsession which is personal finance, more specifically extreme early retirement. (Everyone here should read Mr. Money mustache blog, truly life changing).

I recently made a lot of changes: new job, new house, 1 car traded in, one car sold and not replaced, cancelled cable, changed phone plans, maxed out 401k etc. All great changes that push me towards new goals but... my mind cant friggin stop!

Things are going great but I find myself so lost in my thoughts, and planning, and looking 5-10 year ahead that I miss the now which is ironic because the point of all this is to be able to enjoy life more!

Anyways, first world problems I know but seeing if my LF'ers have any advice!

Sounds like you've given up on ever seeing yours again, Scotty...

not at all mine was never taken away.

My wife is very cool like that and I am the same. I want a night out with the guys and its never a problem she wants a night out with the girls its never a problem. dinner, cards, stripclub whatever its all good.

only time its an issue is if one us makes plans before the other and we both want to go out the same night but that doesn't happen often.

Surgery- yikes!!! I hope you can avoid that.

I ended up wearing a boot at night for several months, in addition to doing the stretches. The boot stretches the tendon while you sleep. It wasn't too uncomfortable once I got used to it.

Enjoy your kids and try not to be to distracted. Sadly, retirement isn't a given for anyone as we aren't promised tomorrow. Make sure to take a vacation or two, and don't miss out on the little things. I don't remember how old your kids are, but make sure you go to games, beaches, fishing, snow tubing,.... movies... make memories because they get old fast and aren't around much then, so don't be afraid to spend a little.

If you can stay out of debt and you max out your 401k, you've won at life financially IMO. Try to have a good balance though. I'm afraid you'll feel like you missed out.

Where do you live again? I'll be right there.

Last strip club I was at was over twenty years ago and the stripper at a huge gauze patch on her back... My friend asked what is your new tattoo of and she said "It's not a tattoo"

Those places gross me out, and that's saying a lot.

right on with you where Lou.

Sadly I had a big reminder this week that tomorrow is not a sure thing. Friend of mine that I have known since I was 10 passed away suddenly on Monday with no warning signs at 43 years old. Another good friend who grew up right across the street from him had a hart attack last saturday at 43 year old as well. He is doing well after they put the stent into a 95% clogged artery.

planning for the future is great and I need to do a little more of that myself but don't sacrifice too much of the now because tomorrow is not a sure thing for any of us.

haha I haven't been to one in years myself. Only times I usually do are for bachelor parties and such just saying if I wanted to it wouldn't be an issue at all with the wife.

Well as my dad told me - 'none of us has an expiration date stamped on our ass. Make sure whatever you're doing makes you happy. Because I've never seen a Brinks truck follow a hearse.'

So, I guess that's my question to you. With all you are doing are you truly happy?

I follow his and Lou's advise. I'm essentially debt free. A small mortgage that I could pay off tomorrow if I needed to. No credit card debt. No car loans. Prepaid my kids college tuition though the UPlan. Still need to come up with room and board though.
I've maxed out my 401K for over 25 years. Now doing 'catch up' because I'm old and they let me.

So, I'm about to turn 58 soon and plan on working 3 more years. Dont need to (thats the key) but plan to.

But I have never really had to deny myself or family anything really.

What I did do and I can never get back is put work before family in the 90's. My only real regret.

thanks man.

add on top of that the good friend that got into the motorcycle accident a year ago new years day was roommates with the friend that just passed for many years. He is really taking it hard.

He is slowly making progress and just "walked" up the stairs to the bedroom in his house for the first time in over a year by himself. been a long road for him.

tomorrow and saturady are the services. Not looking forward to it.

When it rains it pours, I'm so sorry. My son is an EMT and there seems to have been a motorcycle accident every weekend by me.. So dangerous. I hope he continues healing.

I sold mine when my kids got to be about 2 years old. not worth it. I have known more then a couple of people killed on them in the last few years or hurt badly like my friend i mentioned above. In every case they have had young kids. Make me think i made the right choice every time something like that happens.
