Black text is much better than blue text for reading. Pretty harsh reading the thread titles.

Heard great things about this pizza joint at 99 Pape Ave:

Got me hungry now. Thanks. :dunce:

Don't get me wrong, I like him fine; he was in a boy band but he's actually got some decent songwriting chops in there...

But who decided to greenlight this thinking it'd make money? Who is this for?

I've been listening to a lot of ambient type music lately (Brian Eno, Aphex Twin, Vangelis, BofC). I know its not for everyone, but does anyone else listen to this genre at all and if so, any recommendations?

Do you use Spotify?
I find when I discover something I like, I listen to that bands 'Radio' playlist that Spotify creates and I discover lots of different bands that are similar.

Yep. I have a Spotify account and I have been following some of the rec's. I was more curious though to see if anyone here actually listened to this specific genre.

What’s your top recommendation I’ll give it a listen.

I remember aphex twin from while back. Not familiar with the other bands, but maybe check out Mortiis (ex member of Emperor).

Dude had surgery or whatever or prosthetics to look like a legit troll and does electronica/ambient type stuff. Let me know how close or far away I was with this recommendation!

I’d say a good starting point would be with something like Vangelis - The City, or the Bladerunner soundtrack. If this doesn’t jive with you, then you’ll probably hate the deeper ambient stuff that tends to not have a lot of traditional structure.

It’s a little dark for what I’m generally into but was still worth a listen. I was listening to a couple of cuts off the 1st album and it got me wondering what kind of synths he uses to get the “dungeon synth” sound. According to the Reddit community, it’s pretty much the cheapest, crappiest, stock General MIDI synth sounds you can find on a computer. I Iol’d. It’s amazing what some people can do with very little. Also, I swear that Mortiis dude is a poster in the Marner thread, based on looks alone.

Old school black metal sounds like it was recorded with a fisher price microphone in a bathroom, so it all checks out. And your comment about the Marner thread... Lolol
