I might be able to make that after Oct 23 or so--will speak with Keith on that. My niece is getting married Oct 21 (Ha ha, there we go again!) -- lots of activities in the Adzy family prior. Probably gonna have to miss the Sharks game AND UT Alabama except for score updates. What WAS she thinking? She wasn't, I've already asked.
Minister: "Do you take this woman..."
Aunt Adzy: "SCORE!!!!! I like it I love it/good ole Rocky Top, woo!...oops"

The are 35 other home games for Milwaukee. No worries.

Maybe you can time your trip with other events in our area? The Holiday Folk Fair is usually around November 20th. Ethnic music, dancing and food at State Fair Park in nearby West Allis.

I have a limited amount of overhead for this stuff though. There are a couple posters here who I just can't be bothered with, and ALWAYS end up on my ignore list, after every reset.

I feel like they are just too full of themselves to even listen to anything I type. I get they can feel exactly the same way about me. That's totally fair.

But then, ok, at that point, I don't need to read their posts (shagdad and the army guy) and then there are a few others who maybe I get into a disagreement about temporarily on a given topic, and I briefly just need to tune them out so I can get on with things. I waste waaaaaay too much time here as it is. So the folks I ignore... it's not really about them... it's more about me. I just can't take this site too seriously, It is better for me that way. :thumbu:
It helps when you know the person behind the screen name. Back on the old boards Abaddon was...well, he was a prime jerk, sounded like a bitter 60 year old man (which is not old now but it was THEN, ha!) But for some reason I was drawn to his black humor, he liked the fact that I'd spar with him without getting mad and he set up a meeting with a bunch of others to watch the 2003 SCF just to meet me (awww!) Turned out he was 30, bitter for sure from a recent breakup...BUT he was not a jerk in person; he was (and is) pretty darn nice. We bonded and have been friends ever since. I like to think I removed some of his bitter over the years. We're still friends 20 years down the pike and it's real friends. We went to watch the draft together--his wife and my sister definitely saw the hockey geek sides of us. I won't tell on the other folks since they're still on here, ha! That you really aren't a prime jerk is our secret til you quit posting.

Putting this in spoiler tags because of NSFW language, but I see this every year at this time and every time it cracks me up. (Of course being my age, when I was a kid I was a total space nerd)

And the video (NSFW Language)

It sounds like a guy that I used to work with about 20 years ago. Except that I never heard him say "chicken basket".

The X-files had an episode with a crusty local sheriff that talked that way. He was constantly bleeped. At the end, Scully said something that was bleeped. It was funny because it was so unexpected from her character.

I suppose you might develop a resistance to it if you live there, but for me as merely an occasional traveller, every single time I see that building my brain immediately cues up the Adam West-era Batman theme on repeat.
I live here and get that vibe. I love the "new" Lower Broad with all its warts. My father taught at Hume Fogg in the 70's when Lower Broad was a collection of peep shows, dusty stores, and long-abandoned buildings with broken glass. I don't know what it actually was, probably dried out bushes, but there was something resembling tumbleweeds along the sidewalk and it fit perfectly. I went to Tootsies with friends after I turned 18 (was drinking age then) and my mother was terrified. I probably should have been but I had a blast. I actually met Tootsie Bess that night!

It's pretty amazing how much Nashville has changed since I was a kid, all of Middle Tennessee really.

It used to take us nearly 2 hours to get to Antioch from Shelbyville when 231 was just a 2 lane road and the only mall Murfreesboro had was Outlets Ltd. Much of the time we would come up 41-A through Nolensville and head to the Service Merchandise. That was back when 100 Oaks Mall was the first stop we would make.

And man how do I miss the old Show Biz Pizza in Hickory Hollow.

I remember 100 Oaks and Harvey’s. They had the best Chess King too. And Pizzaz the teen dance club or The beach at Hickory Hollow. Met my wife at Southfork. Spent a ton at Egad’s at Harding Mall and ate my weight at Picnic Pizza.

Jesus I forgot all about Harding Mall. TBH back then we didn't go to Nashville much, we could get to Huntsville as fast if not faster and Tullahoma back then had more than Murfreesboro did as far as shopping went.

That Service Merchandise is now an international grocery. The Lowe's is now my granddaughter's high school.
Back when I lived off Nolensville Rd on Tusculum Rd (late 60's to early 70's) they were still widening Nolensville Rd. My mother hadn't driven from the time we moved from Donelson to Virginia (around 3 years) so my dad was teaching her on the newly constructed but not open part of it. Rules did not apply to my father, ha! Tusculum School still had the old building, built in 1911. I had 6th grade in a 3 room schoolhouse!

Hey I also went to the original Tusculum I think we’ve had this conversation

Yeah, rings a bell. Was the old building still there when you went? The one at the road, not the one that became the old building, ha! Mrs Hays (secretary) was probably still there when you went; she was my girl scout leader. I have fond memories of Tusculum and McMurray.

We moved to Lewisburg when I was in 8th grade. That's where Token and I have common ground-- his teachers and coaches were my classmates.

Yeah it was the old building. Probably late 70s. I don’t remember many teachers, Ms Edmonson and Mrs Hester are 2 I do remember. Oh and Mr Daughtry, who I also had at Glencliff Elementary.

So we took the kids to KidzBop Live at the FirstBank Amphitheater in Franklin last night. That's a really nice venue but damn it's way out in the boonies.

Just wait a few years. When I was a kid in Ohio, a new mall opened in a suburb. You drove past a church and a convent. My mom said that convent was "way out in the country" when she was a girl.

How was the traffic getting in and out?
Not too bad, pretty much like you'd expect. 20 to 30 minutes from parking lot to I-65. As for getting in, it wasn't too bad. The long, winding approach keeps things from backing up too much. We thought we were late(7pm show time and we got to the site right at 700) but I guess they know people run late, plus it's about a quarter mile walk from the parking area, so the actual show didn't start until about 740.

Heh I grew up in no town, were like 5 houses within about 2 miles anywhere you wanted to draw a circle. It's just when I hear that term I think of something much different.
My boonies was mostly hell on Halloween... like, there are zero houses in walking distance. So maybe my parents would drive me along 5 miles of the 10 nearest farmhouses? So I'd get a few candies? But otherwise, it's mostly just my bro was only 20 months younger than me, we at least could do our hockey and baseball together on the road or south field, and it didn't matter that much there was no other kid our age within 20 miles? :dunno:
