Me: I pulled my quad rehabbing

Friends: Perfect time to walk like an MFer!

Me: grumble

Semi/demi GF: walking will help you! Sure you walked a mile already. Do more!

Me: my PT would be jealous of your sadism.

Went down to Lynchburg yesterday and took a stroll around the square. There is a shop there that sells "collectible" bottles of JD, with the liquid still inside. The prices were very high to say the least as they are rare or "out of print" so to speak, however one took the cake. They had about a half dozen of these 375mL bottles of "Coy Hill", which were released last summer at the distillery for $75 each:

Our first Small Batch is here - 2022 Jack Daniel’s Small Batch - Special Release Coy Hill High Proof. During the bottling of the 2021 Single Barrel Special Release Coy Hill High Proof, around 55 barrels were found where the Angel’s Share – the whiskey lost due to evaporation – was so high the liquid inside could not be bottled as Single Barrel selections. The high level of evaporation resulted in a unique flavor and character as well as a much higher proof. The barrels were instead batched together by profile to create the Jack Daniel’s Small Batch Special Release Coy High Proof, featuring five unique batches at 143.6, 147.3, 149.8, 153.2, and 155.1 proof – the highest proof whiskeys ever released from Jack Daniel’s. This one-of-kind Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel bottle should remain upright and on land at all times unless you are pouring it into a glass to enjoy.

This store was asking $1200 a bottle. I would love to try it, but not at that price. Far from that price in fact. Tip of the hat to whoever buys them.

Quebec is burning. I'm here on the NY/PA border and my eyes are burning. 600 million acres.
It's hazy as far south as Alabama--my mother mentioned it. I've been staying inside for the most part. Friend from Canada mentioned the heat caused a 3 degree temperature increase (not sure if he was talking Fahrenheit or Celsius, still warmish either way!) and it was very hazy there. He lives in Ontario, pretty sure.

It's like being in a constant BBQ.

EDIT: This smoke might kill a lot of COVID survivors if they don't mask up.

My writer buddy* in NYC posted pics from 2 days ago and then again yesterday. First was sepia, yesterday was a bit hazy but you could still see blue skies. Glad it's getting better.

I saw a picture of NYC where the sky looked a little orange. It made some Chinese people homesick according to the headline.

I am also glad that the air is better!

Last week gas was $3.34. Yesterday, I passed a station at $3.89. Either it is a very large spread or a very large jump!
It goes up and down here--no real rhyme or reason that I can figure out. I got gas about a week ago and it was $2.98 at my favorite station. Today it's $3.19 there but it went up to $3.39 in the interim. I saw one place in Mt. Juliet at $3.59 on Saturday and another at $3.34. 🤷‍♀️

Do not live in Pennsylvania or Arizona, then.

I got back from Baltimore and Viqsi did not kill me!

My batshit crazy family might but...
I am probably the only one, but feel free to regale us with tales of Baltimore. I am recently gone from there now, but it will entertain me! :thumbu:
